Riding along today I passed a house that could not be ignored. In fact I went back and forth by it 4 times before the guy working in the yard waved me up to take a look. He told me they get a lot of gawkers and invited me to look around. He wasn't the owner, but said he worked on refurbishing some of the fiberglass pieces which had been purchased through the internet. He told me the owner just enjoyed collecting. Interesting place.

Love the inmate warning

Although the neighbor was completely outdone, he still tried something.

When I got home from my ride all I could tell my wife was, "I've seen things today...things like I've never seen before."

Interesting. Had no idea what I was looking at.
Same here. Maybe time for D_D to make a Muffler Man thread?

They're really sinister, especially when they've been repurposed into someone's backyard art installation.

Dirt Dad's clearly been playing in West By Gawd Virginny again.
:D

Actually, we did 320 miles in WV yesterday with an FJR group and had a blast. Good times.

Guilty, you can find me in WV most every weekend. This site was in WV about a mile EAST of the border with VA (no, that's not a typo). CR13 off 522. I found it on the satellite photo, but you can't actually see the figures.

320 miles around WV is a full day. Sounds wonderful.

They're scattered all over the midwest. I don't know of any particular gathering point. I'm certainly no expert. But I always see them when I'm on cross country trips, since I tend to try to route myself across the plains on old state highways and US highways rather than interstates, and that's where you find them. In the flatlands you can see them for a long ways. That website I posted earlier, RoadsideAmerica.com, has a map - they seem to think there are more on the coasts but I'm not usually looking for them there. I mostly look for that stuff in the midwest. Some areas don't have the natural advantages of WV, so you have to watch for the weird stuff because that's what makes each day interesting.

Tim, have you seen the one just this side of Jackson? Been there for decades. He's the classic palm up-palm down one.

Going up 88, just short of Martel, the left turn at Ridge Rd to take you up to Sutter Hill, he's right in front of you as you wait at the traffic light.
