While removing my plugs in prep for a valve check I found this in the number one cylinder, outboard plug:
Appears the plug well had water in it at some point. I believe the white line is from mineral deposits at the high water mark. When looking down at the top of the valve cover after removing all the stick coils, the suspect spark plug well was the only one without an area of clean surface around the hole. The plugs have never been removed before. I can only assume the stick coil was not properly seated at the factory. The sealing flange at the top of the coil had no obvious faults. The bike is a 2012 with 19,000 miles and it was running perfectly before the teardown. I do not use a power washer; bike has not done any water crossing.
