Warning lights

I came out this morning to find a pice of wire wrapped around the front axel on the left side. Not tight, just looped around it. I have no idea where I picked it up. I removed it and didn't see any damage but when I started the bike I got and ABS warning light followed quickly by the check engine and TCS lights. Any one have any thoughts on what to check?

That wire may have been connected tio the abs sensor. I know there is a small wire that runs along with the front brake lines on the left side.

Better give a good inspection up there.

I'm just wag-ing but it may just have messed with the magnetic sensor; same as the center-stand trick? Not sure why you'd get an engine code, but ride it a half mile and see .. (if you haven't already).

There's info on diagnostic codes here on the forum (and on ADVRider as well. Here's how to get there:

To enter Diagnostics:

Press the left and right button on the dash simultaniously, and turn the ignition switch to ON.
Continue to hold the buttons for 8 seconds or more.

DIAG appears in the Odometer LCD. If CO appears in the Odometer LCD press the left set button to select DIAG.

Simultaniously press the left and the right set button for 2 seconds or more to set the Diagnostic mode.

It is all on page 8-34 and 8-35 of the workshop manual.

Hope that helps a little.

The code is displayed on the dash screen. You don't have to go into diagnostics. Agree with above, ride it for a half mile and see if it resets.

I rode it several miles with no change. I went ahead and dropped it off at the shop yesterday evening. I'm hoping that just clearing the codes will solve it.

It sounds like its not reading the ABS on your front wheel, and has deactivated the ABS, hence the warning lights.
It seems the same warning lights come on, when you disable the ABS by putting it on the center stand and running it.
That wire probably pulled on the ABS wire and created an open in the circuit.

FYI.....It won't reset if you have the clutch switch mod in place....
