Want to hook up my Aux Lights to Horn. How do I do it?

It's not BMW envy but I saw a BMW the other day that when he was going to make a pass he honked his horn and it also made the Aux light flash. I thought that was pretty sweet and an extra level of visibility. Before I start hacking wires I was just wondering how it would need to be wired. I don't want the opposite to happen. I don't want my horn to start honking ever time I switch on my Aux lights... Any ideas of how to wire this would be appreciated..

get a relay and take the horn output to trigger it (splice it so it goes to both), have power from the battery coming in the relay and goes out to the lights. the horn will trigger or energize the relay and turn the lights on while you hold it down.

Normally, the additional current to aux lights require a relay. You'd run a wire from between the horn switch and horn, to the trigger (switch) side of the aux light relay. The trick is that you'll need a diode in that wire run or the horn will blow anytime you switch on the aux lights. Car parts stores have the diodes - you'll want one capable of at least 10A and preferably 15A.

I use a Skene controller with the alert feature:

If you double tap the horn, it flashes the lights in a random pattern. If you push and hold the horn, the lights go to 100%. You can also have up to three levels of light output (default is 10%, 20% and 50%), and when switching to high beams, the aux lights also go to 100%. I sue this for the LED spots on my handlebars, and it works fantastic.

Just a note; North Americans, maybe just Americans, have no clue about the whole Flash 2 Pass thing. More often than not it will get you a single finger salute or some other road rage result. Silently, stealthily, and quickly, give the cager as little time as possible to eff' with you. ::26::
Both Skene and Rigid say their stuff doesn't play well together, have you seen that as well? I spent the extra on Rigid's High/Low D2 lights, relayed them from the oem hi/lo, relayed an off switch on the bars, works real nice.

Very true. I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way about the flash to pass thing. It serves me absolutely no purpose.
In fact, where I come from, when someone flashes their lights it's a signal to tell the other driver to PROCEED, and also a signal to tell someone they are "clear", such as when a tractor trailer passes, flash your lights and they know they're clear to move back over in your lane.

Never been one for horn honkin on a bike either. The time you spend applying your thumb to a horn button is better spent twisting the throttle or grabbing some brake to avoid what you think requires beeping a stinking horn.
But.......I drive my pickup defensive and ride my bikes offensive. :)

Where I'm riding the flash to pass serves as a warning to people not to cut you off or do some other boneheaded move. I find it very useful.

See, that's part of the way it's meant to work. Here it's "hey, he see's me, it's ok to cut him off". ::010::
