TCS2 in the dirt? What tires are you guys running?

Ive still only on my Battlewings and turn TCS off - I have absolutely no concerns letting the rear slide out in the dirt - the bike is that well balanced.

K60s. I love TCS2 on a gravel road. Want to go faster just nail the throttle. You can accelerate going up a gravel hill. Try that with TCS off and you'll spin and spin. That can be fun, but much harder to modulate the throttle to accelerate. Turn on TCS2 and you spin some, but you'll also go faster.

I putter around everywhere I go. Touring, TC1 easy does it. I ride even slower on my slightly modded cbr900rr streetfighter, and allways on two wheels! ::025::

Thanks all for the nice responses. Yes I have read up a lot on this bike and have been following it since before it was available in the U.S. (two years I guess).
But hearing from you all who own them and have experience with them on and off road is really appreciated.

I have a KLR and an S10 and they are very different bikes. The last couple years I have taken some two up trips on the KLR that included a bunch of logging roads up in Maine and interstate highways. I love the KLR in the gravel but hate it two up on the highway when loaded with gear. The engine has to work too hard to stay at 75mph. It's not bad when I travel alone. If I wasn't married this would probably be my only bike.

I purchased the S10 to improve comfort and increase power during those long interstate sections. I have not toured on it yet but but my wife loves it and won't even ride on the KLR anymore. We are getting ready for a Nova Scotia trip in June and this bike is perfectly setup for that. With the TCS and ABS this is also the safest bike I have ever owned. When switching back and forth between the bikes it feels like the KLR has lost it's brakes before I realize that is the was they have always been.

I am 5'9" with a 30" inseam and I prefer the seat in the high position because it allows more room when seated with my feet on the pegs. I cannot get flatfooted (unloaded) but I have no problem keeping the bike in control. I just put put on the racks and happy trails panniers which I can now move back and forth from my KLR. I also have a top case and when loaded the rear sags a bit and I can get flatfooted. I still have less than 1000 mile on it so I am still experimenting with the suspension settings and the sag.

I can say this bike is awesome and although I do not plan on getting rid of my KLR it is little bit harder to justify having it.

Yeah ... I was blasting a few trials last weekend, tried TCS2 and TCS off. I preffered TCS off cause for me, that is part of controlling the beast - position, line taken, and throttle control through the dirt.

Spinning through loose gravel - yeah I can see that, and why you would use TCS2. ::026::

Cant wait to get my K60s on ... ::26::

Twities wins a piece of charcoal for identifying the famous CA 36 sign board. Not a bad ride but I prefer 299. There are better roads than either, but all good the way I go...
Actually I prefer 89 from Markleeville past Tahoe all the way north to Lassen. On a dofferent bike, not so heavy, I might then prefer 36, but hands down it's hard to beat 168 east from Big Pine and keep going thru Nev to Utah !
