Hi All,

If you remember wayyyyyy back when we received our S10, Karson setup a group buy for the visi-tec brake modulator. Thanks Karson. ;D

The reason why I resurrect this trivial information is for one reason. It ain't flashing any more :-[

I was riding behind my son on his klr650 while he was thrashing my S10 :'( , and I noticed that every time he braked, the brake light did not flash. Just wondering if there's some kind of reset that needs to happen to make it flash again. Rear Brake light still functions, but just comes on solid and stays that way until the brake is released.

I ordered mine just outside of the group buy in 8/2012 and I know they have different versions now. I assume we bought Version 1 during the group buy if anyone remembers?

I sent an email to visi-tec, but in the meantime I thought I would ask the question here.

I, too, have a Vizi-Tec SupaBrake I model brake light modulator. Before you decide it's actually malfunctioning, you might want to take a look at the product page for these earlier units (I also had one on my Ducati Hypermotard):

http://www.vizi-tec.com/supabrake/

Make particular note of the section that says:

"If the brakes are applied within 0 - 12 seconds, the brake light will NOT flash - thus allowing it to function normally (solid brake light). This condition is most valuable during heavy stop-and-go traffic so as not to annoy the person or police in the vehicle behind you."

And:

"The flasher won't activate if brakes are applied again within a certain period of time."

Your post made me go out in the garage and check mine, and it works great, though the time delay between where it will operate the modulation flash sequence is more like 16 seconds than 12 (as mentioned above). Please also note the unit is programmable, and you can download the manual here: https://www.vizi-tec.com/content/sb/SB_USER_GUIDE.pdf

I only mention all this because if you and your son were "thrashing" a bit in the twisties then perhaps the brake applications were coming too fast and often for the Vizi-Tex unit to "reset" and get back to the flash modulation mode.

Hope this helps!

Yep, I'm sensitive to the 12 second timeout - I did receive a reply from Bernard. He thinks I have the SB2 and that I may have reset it to Profile #1 that seems to disable flashing. I'll check some things out and post back.

Thanks.

I agree with the 12 second. But you can always contact Bernard. If it is broke I am sure he would be interested to know why.

So apparently I have the sb1. Exchanged emails with him and he will send me a new unit.

I have to say that he responded quickly, verified the issue and stands behind his product. I'm not worried about when I get the new one, because the brake still works even though the flashing doesn't.

As far as vendors goes, he's a 10...... Out of 10 of course.

+1 on that vendor..... no +1K.
Last November, I purchased a modulator. After installing the unit I realized that the stock configuration and my braking habits were not the right combination. When braking, I generally modulate my brakes, a habit from past, before ABS.. I called and he agreed to re-program my unit for a small nominal charge that I felt was fair. It was mailed to him and promptly returned to me with no charge..... I called to remind him we had agreed on a price and he there would be no charge, chalk it up to "good will". Outstanding service by any measure.
