This morning, I took a ride over to Seat Concepts.

One complaint that I have had with the Super Tenere (honestly, I believe my only complaint) has been that the seat is not comfortable for me. After 40-50 miles, the seat is uncomfortable. Partially, it is the downward slope of the seat, and partially it's just the foam that it's made of, I suppose.

I inquired with Seat Concepts, since they're only 50 miles away from me. I was told that they have a ride-in price of $150, installed. I figured that it's a small enough amount of money that it's worth trying out.

I was very impressed with the employees there, as well as the size of the facility. I saw about ten employees, and their building is somewhere around 10,000 square feet, I'd estimate. I was told that they do 1,500 seats per month. Well above the number of seats I would have guessed!!

On my ride there, I rode "the long way," and rode 70 miles. On the way home, I rode "the even longer way," and rode 140 miles. The seat is a significant improvement. It wasn't a 10 out of 10 for comfort on the ride home, but I didn't expect it to be. It is a very solid 8 out of 10 for comfort though, and was never uncomfortable. I was aware the seat was there, but it was never a bother.

For those on the fence with a seat mod, I'd suggest taking a look at Seat Concepts.

Put both driver and passenger seat on mine. The best money I had spent for this bike yet. Could only do about 50 miles before and I would start squirming. My wife and I did a 200 mile fuel stop not stopping for a brake with no pain or complaints from the back. What a difference.

The seat concepts seat is perfect for me, taller, no slope, now I can do 600 mile days easy, where 400 was pushing it before.

Ordered the all carbon fiber for the front and back seat and installed about 1 year ago. My wife and I are very pleased, can ride all day (500 miles) with no problem. Before we were using Alaska Leathers sheep skin or an air hawk seat pad and sometimes both but have not used these since getting this seat.
I bought a pneumatic stapler as they recommend which made the installation easy.

I have the seat concept seat on my WR450F. It has the gripper material and is very comfortable (or as comfortable as a motocross seat can be). I have a Sargent seat on my S10 with the carbon look material. It's a significant improvement over stock for sure but certainly not perfect. Also its quite 'slippery'. I wonder what the SC seat with gripper material would feel like on the S10. Anyone have that?

I have the standard recovering kits for the front and back of the 2014 Tenere, as well as for the WR250R. For the front seat on the 2012 Tenere, I just did the $2 bumper change to flatten in out and rode that for 48,000 miles. It worked well.
I splurged for the 2014 recovering kits and did the rear first. I was actually a bit disappointed, as it just replaced the vinyl and made no difference for comfort. My pillion rider still wants her AirHawk. So I was skeptical when I used the cover and foam to do the front on the 2014 Tenere. Especially after finishing, because it is not a huge visible change.
It is night and day better than the stock front seat though. I did an 1100 mile ride last week and it gave me all day comfort. With the extra height in the foam I now have the seat in the low setting, where I used the high setting for the 2012. The extra height also flattened the seat, so the $2 Home Depot rubber bumpers aren't needed. What is not apparent till you look is that the Seat Concepts kit is also a bit wider and flatter.
The WR250R transformed the wooden The front seat on the Tenere

Yes, I have the gripper material on my Seat Concepts seat. I'm happy with it, and would recommend it to anyone interested in getting the SC mod done.

Called Seat Concepts today to see if they would make a tall version of their seat for my 13 ST. They said they just don't have the demand for it but may make one in the future.

They called me back and said if I could get ten people together who wanted a tall seat from them they would make it. I may not have recalled this correctly but they mentioned 20% off. Not sure if they meant for me or for the ten.

Anyhow, if anyone is interested chime in here and I will let them know.

They are offering you to put together a group buy. All ten that commit to buy will get the discount.
Count me in...

I just had mine done this Wednesday. I've only put about 100 miles on it, but it is a definite improvement for me, as for my passenger, well she complained of her legs going numb with the new seat and we've done 400 mile rides with old seat. It was never a problem. I'm thinking maybe the seat needs a little wearing in. I also noticed its noticeably taller then the stocker. I used to ride in the high position, but with the new seat I could just barely tiptoe it and i'm 6'4". I also found with the extra foam I had a hard time even installing it in the high position. Now i know the pan is unmodified I just think its pressing harder against the pillion seat. I went with the carbon side and the gripper top. The added lower back support is nice too.

Which seat covering did you get? Looks like the suede? I am trying to get a sense of what will work out best. I have a Sergeant seat that I am not happy with (too hard). I have started wearing the Motoport mesh pants, and slide around more than I want now. I was thinking of the gripper top and carbon sides, but if the carbon top is not as slippery, I would prefer it.

I am going to ride to them (only about 40 miles from me) and have them hopefully do the seat for me while I wait.

Thanks
Mark

I got the gripper top with the carbon sides. It really holds you in place. If you like to move around a lot it's probably not the cover for you. If like feeling glued to the bike, like i do its the way to go
