Today I rode up to Black River Road to check out Victoria Falls and do a little exploring. This was the ride I was going to do last weekend but got rained out. Today it was a beautiful day for a ride! This was a nice stretch of gravel road that was not too rough and pretty scenic as it follows the river pretty closely. There is a parking area right at Victoria Bridge where the falls are but I had a waypoint that suggested a different parking area. This section was more rutted and muddy and where my trouble began. When I came over a small hill, there were NO TRESPASSING signs up but I didn't have a spot to turn around. So I went in a little further and found an open area to make the turn. On my way back I should have just gone in the rut instead of trying to get to the flatter spot in the center. I know better and I don't know why I attempted to do this. Hind sight!! Well the bike started to slide and I had no choice but to let it go down. I was basically standing still so I just stepped off the bike. The back end was easy to move into the rut to help stand the bike up but the crash bar and handlebar were wedged into the side of the rut. I got out my tie down straps that I kept on me for just such an occasion. This was the first time I've had to use them and they were very effective although I'm sure there better tools out there for this. I used 2 to get some lift and 1 horizontally to pull the front into the rut. The bike was easy to stand up once I got it in there. There was no damage, just got the crash bars dirty.

I had a great day of riding in nice area and I gained a little more experience with the big beast!
