Mark, I agree with what you say about recommending the shorter intervals, but based on my experiences, I have seen alot of guys over the years on Honda ST1100/1300 bikes go well into 50-100k miles never needing a shim adjustment.markjenn said:All recent street bike Yamahas with shim valves seem to have intervals of 40K km (about 24,800 miles) while most of the other Japanese brands are somewhat shorter (typically 20K-30K km). Whether this reflects better valve technology by Yamaha or simply they being a little less conservative is hard to say - valve check intervals are pretty arbitrary with respect to the tradeoff between shortened valve life or failure (due to a valve being run badly out of spec) vs. the maintenance expense of doing more frequent checks.

Yep, went with local yamaha dude. I asked them about it months ago, and the salesman already knew it was going to be PDP, just didn't know when it would start. SO is just getting to like the MTS, LOL. Only mine has been ordered at this dealership to date.hANNAbONE said:Holy Crap, David..!! You ORDERED..!!
