The dash in-fill panel that hardpipe built is probably the most elegant solution to adding multiple sockets to the bike.
But I have none of his skills or resources and the winglets prevent me from adding one to the left side.
I did however come across this dual panel on Amazon and got it on the off-chance that I could make it work. It did:
This is wired into the old power socket, so all the 3A warning apply. For me it wasn't a way to be able to have more things charging at the same time, just be able to connect different things at different times. Next on the list is to wire it directly to the battery.
Anyway, the panel is fairly sturdy. I put the USB on the left because plugging in/out a USB cable takes less force than a cigarette lighter so the bigger stress stays where the old socket was. On the right side, I screwed it into the panel - those holes can be easily plugged in if I take it out. I did have to file the sharp tips of the screws just so they don't accidentally snag any cable.
The sockets themselves are a bit long and so the cables touch the high-beam lightbulb housing, but don't exert any significant pressure:
Hope this helps.
