Last attempt was in 2018 and the main reason we didn’t make it was my friends BMW stator quit working and we couldn’t get the parts to replace it , he wound up putting it on a boat for a three day cruise to Bellingham Washington, only $1500.00
Two of us left Medford Wi Saturday morning and it was raining pretty good but it only lasted for about an hour, after a few stops we made it to Bemidji Mn that night almost 400 miles, the second day we made it to Stanley ND, third day Shelby MT, today we did about 350 miles of hell at first it was extremely windy then the rain started which later switched to snow, fortunately it was above freezing but there was 2-3 inches of slush between the car tracks and so much snow on my windshield that I couldn’t see through it, it rained most of the day and the high temperature was about 40 degrees. But I do enjoy the challenges that come from riding motorcycles.
Tonight there are three of us in Priest River ID and the plan is to cross into Canada tomorrow afternoon.

I went in July 2019. Great ride!! Rained a little on the way back down the Dempster but not so bad that the roads got messy. Spend the 5-10 on a bug hat if your camping. Best money I've ever spent.

I want to go back but the Canucks wont let me in right now. Maybe next year.

Since we crossed into Canada the weather has been reasonable, the roads are great. We have a very nice room at Prestige Hotel in Smithers BC tonight. According to my GPS it’s only 1,634 more miles to Tuktoyaktuk so hopefully we will get there sometime Tuesday .

Other than waiting in line at the border for about 45 minutes we didn’t have any trouble getting in , we crossed at Osoyops or something like that i most likely have it spelled wrong , we all 3 had the ArriveCAN app on our phones but they didn’t even look at my phone I just had to show them my Passport and I guess that verified I had the pass installed properly on my phone

Well unfortunately we lost one of our three riders yesterday, he ran off a curve on 37 and totaled his new Honda AFrica Twin DCT, fortunately he didn’t seem to get hurt seriously, it happened about 5 miles north of Iskut BC, fortunately there was a towing service about a mile down the road. We removed most of the gear from his bike to ship home and he will probably be flying home Sunday or Monday.
We rode about 400 miles to White Horse YT today, hopefully Monday I will be able to get a new front tire, we are only about 860 miles from Tuktoyaktuk now.

we are staying at Stratford motel in Whitehorse so this morning we walked to the famous Burnt Toast restaurant arrived at 8am but sign on door says they don’t open until 9:30 so we left and went to Best Western motel-restaurant and had a nice breakfast. We might try Burnt Toast again tomorrow.

We had great success getting a front tire at Yukon Yamaha this morning, I’ve been there a few times before and the results have always been excellent. Bought a Dunlop TrailMax which seems like a nice on or off road type tire. We had a nice closeup view today of a big brown bear crossing the road with three pretty small cubs. We ate breakfast at Burnt Toast this morning, the food was excellent, on the return trip we might stop at the cinnamon roll place.
We have a room reserved in Eagle Plains tomorrow night and the next two nights in Inuvik, hopefully the weather remains decent and everything goes well.

Well we made it to Tuktoyaktuk Thursday, i would say it’s a pretty dangerous 100 mile ride out there from Inuvik, we were lucky and didn’t have any trouble but plenty of folks ain’t so lucky, lots of difficult to ride loose gravel. My rear tire went flat three different times but luckily I’ve been able to plug it and keep riding, plenty of other riders not that lucky. Talked to a guy this morning with tube type tires he had a flat and replaced the tube himself on the side of the road , rode 50 miles and had another flat but not another tube so got a wrecker to tow him to Dawson City NAPA , they have a tube but for some reason can’t sell it to him until Monday so he is stuck in a motel, the tow bill was $1,200 for 50 miles.
So far we have ridden over 1,200 miles of gravel but hopefully we won’t need to ride a lot more, tonight and tomorrow night we are in a motel in Whitehorse hoping to get a new rear tire Monday .
We stopped at Braeburn Lodge today, it’s kinda famous for the giant cinnamon rolls, wow all the food at that place is EXCELLENT ! They definitely know how to run a business !!!

Braeburn Lodge is 50-60 miles north of Whitehorse and I highly recommend stopping there when in the area.
