Trying to figure out my wind noise issue

I haven't had my S10 long, but I already have a tall Yamaha screen and the winglets and had them on for a 750+ mile weekend in Romney. I noticed a big difference with the tall screen and winglets vs. stock but it's still loud (earplugs fix that).

The one surprise: at some point I looked down at the tank and the noise stopped entirely. For the first time on any ADV bike I've had, all I could hear was engine and tire noise - zero wind blast.
This makes me think the vast percentage of noise is from either the face shield, coming in under the chin, or from the stuff sticking up off the helmet to catch air for venting (HJC CSR-1). The effect is consistent but less dramatic with my HJC CSR-2.

I was shocked how dramatic the difference was. When people say the helmet contributes a lot to wind noise, they aren't kidding.

I run a 24" Calcsi screen on mine with a Touratech bracket, it's good but not perfect. I have since added an MRA (style) universal spoiler to the screen and it's now 99% perfect. The spoiler is adjustable and after a bit of fiddling the buffeting has all but gone and it's almost silent. The hardest bit is mustering up the courage to drill holes in a perfectly good screen... see link below for screen nirvana ::008::

What about clip on spoilers, dog you try that. Drilling hikes is not my favorite idea. I have noticed that my screen is not crystal clear like the stock one was, kind of had a cloud to it. I have used plexus and it has made it a little better.
