I've been lurking around since 2014 on this forum and have owned a 2012 Tenere since then. While I like the Gen1, the Gen 2 ES has gotten my attention (think it maybe better for the misses as it's smoother). Since dealers don't allow for a person to get good feel regarding a bike, would a forum member like to meet up and swap bikes on a ride? I'm in Northern VA, but could meet up elsewhere. Please feel free reply to this thread or PM me.

Yea, but we all know that's because she prefers the blue. ;)

I'm an hour north of you, in Damascus. My 2014 is not an ES though.

I have to concur. They are both the best at what they are both the best at.
And to stay that way, they could not succeed copying each others success.

Thanks Checkswrecks. I'm leaning more toward an ES, but will not rule out a non ES.

Now that blue (sort of) is the only colour choice, at least in Canada, I will be joining the blue crowd. But I will miss Matte Grey, which was the colour of both my 2013 and 2014 ES. My orange days are over, although I did consider the 1090 rather than staying with the Super Tenere, but I couldn't give up the Tenere's dead solid reliability. Of course, if I was allowed two bikes (like others who shall not be named), then a small and light orange bike would be okay.

Mostly folks that get rid of one before they get another?
Nobody will ever give me what I think they are worth. So I keep em.
Admittedly they take up room. Thank the Lord for barns.

I just moved from a 2011 FJR non-ES to a 2016 S10 ES and I am loving this bike. If you ride 2up regularly as I do, I would definitely recommend the ES. It is a nice easy quick switch to adjust from single to double riders, with and without luggage. Love it and am glad I went with the ES. If you have never had it, it is easy to say that it is not really that important. But once you have it, you quickly get used to it. I would never manually adjust suspension settings every time I switch from single to 2up.

::026:: And when the road surface changes, being able to adjust the rebound/dampening makes the ride more enjoyable/easier.
