(i had Yamaha boxes on my 2012 ST that were small but waterproof). anyway my question is, does silicone on the rivets Inside the boxes realy work? (cause i know they leak from the rivets). has anyone seales from Inside their cases with good results ? thanks

I have a set of Trax Evo Cases...they leak a little but not very much however I have come up with ta fix but haven't tried it yet. I was working on a how to video. I hesitate to offer my idea as I don't know if it will work. I did a before test and submerged the evo cases up to the lids into a container of water and only a little water leaked in. Silicone will work but I don't think its permanent .I tried it on my top box but its starting to peal off.

Sorry to hear you have leakers. But, glad you brought it up because I am thinking about the Trekker Outbacks, as well. For the money you would think leaks would not even be a worry. I would think silicone on the rivets would work just fine. I am currently running the Wolfman - Rocky Mountain soft bags with the Givi racks.....they have there pros & cons. Anyone else out there having a leak issue?

I would try the spray on sealants.

I just bought a set of these and I will be testing for leakage due to your postings. If they leak I will spray the entire interior with that stuff.

I've got Trax panniers and never had them leak. And I spent 2 days riding in constant rain just after I purchased the bike.

I don't get any dust in the either.

Maybe I'm just lucky.

I've been happy with my TraX EVO cases. Every now and then I'll find a couple drips after a good dousing with a water hose while washing the bike but they've never leaked while riding in the rain...

The Trax boxes I had on my 2009 Stelvio leaked like a sieve, but the same model of boxes on my Super Tenere have proven watertight so far. Luck of the draw, I guess. With the Stelvio, I just made sure I packed everything in the waterproof inner liners and all was good.

Trax boxes prior to the update...(I think it was 2011) had a leak issue. Thats why SWM included the waterproof bags. The newer Evo edition are much better. You can tell the difference easily by looking at the latches Evos have a better more secure latch....even though the lock is still crap....Also the EVO cases has TRAX embossed on the side of the case where as the old edition has a riveted name plate.

i had the new trax boxes on my 2012 v-strom 650 exp. and after rain rides sometimes forgot to open the boxes and dry them (a pain compared to dry boxes) well i was rewarded with mildew all over gear. gross and not needed. and these inner bags (what help is that?) still need to unload the boxes after rain and dry them. after buying bigger boxes then yamaha's boxes we are still left with the same inner size with all the space needed for the inner bags. wtf? my trekker outback leak water also from the rivets i am sure and they should not.

I have the Givi Outbacks, the 1st pair of black one to come to the US. Both had a leak at the lower seam, probably at the corner junction.
I contacted Givi USA and they shipped me another set of panniers, locks, and return shipping label. No hassle, easy to deal with, GREAT customer service.
Give them a call at (704) 679-4123. If you run into any resistance ask to speak with Paul Collins, he's the CEO of GIVI USA and will make things right. ::008::

Many come to the interweb seeking advice when perhaps they would be better served by first contacting the manufacturing and explaining the situation in a calm, objective, professional manner. Most manufactures want to do the right thing to keep their customers happy...... but they don't want to deal with irate, arrogant, bitching.

My Outbacks were purchased directly from Give USA, if your were purchased from retailer Givi may direct you to contact that retailer.

Give Givi a call and report back, we're all watching! ::024::

thanks for your reply big blue . i have contacted givi usa and they just told me to deal with the canadian distributor that is thilbeault distribution and did nothing else. so that why i,m on forums for advice and solutions. one thing i know at 50 years old is that everything we buy can have issues and i usualy deal with it myself by doing modifications or finding outside solutions. almost nothing is perfect but for the trekker cases they are still brand new and it's either i fix them myself or all the hassle of refund or exchange without knowing if it will be fixed.
