To me, that tells me that I don't want to ever support that dealer. Charging new prices for used. Apparently that's a thing now. . . . charging over MSRP. I won't do it.

Since you "know" the bike, it might just take a fly-n-ride to get you your upgrade.

So finally got to talk with my friend who is in new sales. He says they just completed their initial order for Yamaha and no S10 or FJR in the order book. Their next order period is November but he suggested if Yamaha was doing anything it should hit the internet before then. Looked at a sweet 2016 Speed Triple S they took on trade from a good customer of theirs. Of course they are asking a lot for it.

Considering anything other than a Super Tenere is sheer folly... Just madness. May the motogods restore your clearness of thought and find you settling onto an ES whence one comes up the pike.

Since there are no newer ES S10's local within 200 miles I decided to stop at the BMW/Ducati dealer in MKE. They have three GS's and one 40th ann that kinda matches my 91 GS so cool. They are quoting full MSRP plus $800 in dealer fees!! That is nuts. My search for a good S10 somewhat local continues. Mine just rolled over 41k and now the fork seals are leaking again.... Oh well, repairs are cheap compared to bike payments.

If you're gonna do a fly-n-ride this year, I'd do it sooner rather than later. Weather's gonna be changing pretty quick. Except down here. This is our best time of the year to ride.

TBH, you are choosing the worst time to get a bike (new or used)..... Thats the stuff going on across the board from dirt to street bikes. Id definitely hold off if not a must have and if not, youre gonna pay to play.

BUT definitely add to the stable! The next gen isnt a big enough difference to buy again (especially if youve farkled it up). But Im biased 12 owner and 5 bikes in the garage.

Or anything for that matter. Whether it's actually costing more to produce/supply or not . . . . that's going to be the excuse they use for everything. The latest BS I've heard is that car dealers are refusing outside financing. So now that a person has payed over MSRP, you have to eat another turd, and finance through them.

Everyone one is exactly right. Worse time to shop but I had hoped maybe a better trade allowance might offset the rising new price. Not this time anyway. What has been driving me is selling the Boxer Cup. Was trying to fill that hole with something and generate a little excitement again. Search goes on. And right now the deer are generating enough excitement for me on my commute.

I know a few Ducati riders and they all have had great things to say about the dealership. Visited a few times after they picked up BMW but holy cow you are right. Salesmen was a good guy and I appreciated his time. But, shop rate $140 for new, $200 for vintage bikes. I asked what is vintage? 2010 and up for non-current models! Vintage

They can, because those brands keep their shops filled with repair’s/warranties. We just need fuel, oil and tires…

Yeah but they also sell Royal Enfield so I thought I had a shot....

I had a '15 plate S10 with electronic suspensions showing 47k miles

Although it was immaculate it needed a major service (valve checks etc) and new tyres. It also had an intermittent misfire which I think could have been a coil stick(s)

The excellent independent mechanic I've been using for a few years had a terrible motorcycle accident and has now sold up

Unfortunately as from 1 January 2021 the S10 will not meet the new Euro 5 regulations so there are no new Super Teneres in the UK. A slight loophole was dealers could resister a new S10 in late 2020 and although it has never been ridden, sell it as second-hand (we call it pre reg here) in 2022. These are becoming rare

So for all the above reasons I pulled the plug, traded my 15 bike and bought a pre reg bike (registered 20 Nov 2020 although it's a 19 model) in May 2021 whilst I could still get my hands on a new one

I think I got a fair deal (as we all do!)

I agree with Stefan. I was going to suggest an ES if you were trading up. I absolutely love the E-suspension. I have a '17 ES, and apparently, it's the only one made perfect from the factory. I've had no problems, and, more importantly, wouldn't change a thing. . . . not a thing. She's my favorite bike ever.

Question for y'all on the ES thing.
I just bought my 2015 S10 with ES. Rode it home to Mpls from Boston three weeks ago.
How do you actively use the suspension? Do you ever change it? when? Is it an off road/on road thing? Just not sure how I should be taking full advantage. Also on the traction control. Same sort of questions

Well, not sure, cause I rode a 2018 Super Tenere for two years, 45,000 kms and I fiddled with the ES. Tried different settings and didn't feel any differences.
I'm back riding a real dual sport ride...a 2020 Africa Twin DCT model non adventure. It has an adjustable knob to turn to increase the feel of the suspension.
There's an 'ole sayin...KISS....
er, keep it simple stupid.
The Africa Twin rocks.
It's my second Africa twin.
Tenere = better cruizer/highway bike
Africa Twin = better all round bike.
To each his/her own.
