What size is the hole that tire stems fit through ? Want to try and find
metal valve stem that fits correctly ?
metal valve stem that fits correctly ?
That's a good idea. I've been thinking about putting some kind of TPMS on my tenere. We have sharp rocks out here.charlie.c said:Hi
My first post on here. I need to know if it's possible to change the tyre valves for steel ones? The reason being I want to fit Garmin pressure caps and you shouldn't fit them to rubber stemmed valves. If this isn't possible has anyone fitted any other system? It's a real must for me as Just recently I suffered a high speed rear tyre blow out on the motorway. It was on a goldwing which I managed to stay on and get stopped but it was a real brown trouser moment.

Not sure if you're replying to me or the OP, but my instructions don't indicate replacing the valve stems unlike the Garmin instructions that do say to install only on steel stems. I'm going to try mine on rubber to see if i like them and probably change the stems out to steel. Probably should have done it last week when I put on new tires. I saw some Garmin reviews with installs on rubber stems and no problems. Garmin is probably doing the ole CYA thing. Couldn't find a weight but both brands look the same.Ron Earp said:I wouldn't mount them on rubber stems. And I'm pretty sure that the instructions indicate the same but of course your mileage may vary and all that.
Bought my bike used with a steel T stem on the rear. You can then add/remove air without removing the TPMS sensor. I have the other one for the front, waiting for the next tire change. Not sure what brand.charlie.c said:Hi

Couldn't find if the valve stems needed to be replaced with steel.Checkswrecks said:Changed the thread title so it's easier to understand.
