Thanks for all the replies ( again) chaps....I'm going to run it as it is and see how it goes ::008::

I think for the number of times we go away on the bike it's not worth getting a trailer..generally we prefer hotels to camping, but it would be nice on a very occasional trip to camp ....

Side view as requested

You'll be fine. The S10 is a super two up touring bike. Load her like a pack mule and go...She'll do fine. I find it more comfortable/fun to ride than my Goldwing.

Thanks Bryn, thats exactly what i was looking for. It looks as though your panniers are the same size do you know what the litre size is or the width would do instead. Also what mounting rack have you used for them. Sorry for all the questions dude, kind regards. Mark.

No worries Mark 8)

They are 8" wide, I think that makes them 34 litres, but check on the Ard Case site to be sure. They are 2" narrower than the handlebars, which is why I went for that size.

The racks are hepco & Becker quick release.. They are symmetrical and are 20" wide.. Making a total of 36"

Thanks Bryn, looking at the photos they seem to be set well back from the passenger pegs. I was wondering how you found the bike to ride when loaded. I had the same panniers on my 800 Tiger and reset them as far back as they would go. The bike did not seem to mind at all. Also did Roger fit the mountings for you on the panniers, he normally uses a puck system. I really like your set up, its the best i have seen.

No difference to the handling when the panniers were loaded up..., they are indeed a fair way back from the passenger pegs and don't get in the way for a pillion at all. I went over to Roger and he did the fitting for me ::008::

Thanks Bryn, you cant really go wrong with the Ardcases.
Built well ::008::

We rode down to Cornwall in May, and having had a ride over to Newquay, we returned to St.Austell and having nearly got back We realised the left pannier lid was awol.

Found it 10 miles back lying on the centre line of a busy road..barely a mark on it ::26::

I must have forgotten to clip the front catch down, went over a bump, it lifted off in the breeze ..won't do that again ;D

I did the same thing ! . Unluckily i went back for it only about 50mtrs and a car drove straight over it. When i got home i straightened it all out and used it for another 2 years. I dont think others would have survived that.

Might try pulling a trailer. This is a 1995 Bushtec, weighs about 125 lbs, and we put about 150 lbs in it when we go camping.
lightens the load on the bikes suspension, as we adjust the load for about 40 lbs of tongue weight.
pulls like a dream, holds ALL our camping gear, and lets the little woman use a WHOLE saddlebag for her stuff.
The hitch was about $350, and I got it from a member here on the forum that makes them...

Hello, I am looking for trailer hitch for a 2020 S-10. Can you direct me to the person that makes. …thanks…Ed K.

I don't ride 2 up on long trips. But on my trips solo... I weigh 170 lbs or so. I usually bring 130 lbs worth of camping gear. The weight is not so much the problem but the wind resistance from the Givi Outback Trekker panniers on each side. And I do ride over 80 mph for some long stretches. Bike handles it well.. gas mileage Hurts.

Then go to any of the threads about trailers. In the search box put:
trailer hitch

And you'll find threads like this:

fwiw - A few members have made them for others in the past but nobody is at present. If you don't have the skills and equipment, take photos from the forum to your local welder.
