FYI to my fellow Big Sky brethren that a Super Tenere is in fact scheduled to be on display at Al's Cycle in Hamilton, MT.
Mucho Thanks to Thumpercrazee for bringing this to my attention over on ADV ;)

I spoke with them today and was informed it was originally scheduled for next Thursday/Friday but has been slipped to the week of March 14th due to Yammi needing it for a photo shoot of some kind. Dealer is supposed to call me to give advanced notice when they know exactly the date it will be arriving and for what duration. He said he should know next week hopefully.

FYI that this scoot is supposed to head for a Coeur d'Alene, Idaho dealer after this MT visit.

I know somebody that is headed for the Bitterroot Valley in less than 2 weeks 8)

Right now it is in Butte. It was fun but too cold to ride. Maybe if I brought some cold weather gear but I did not. Anyway it was fun to sit.

Nice to hear you were able to check it out Hipshot.
I was just in Butte last weekend...got home Sunday.
Any idea how long it is there for? Leipheimers I presume?

Someone has backed out of an order in Central WA. If you want to check and make sure, call Sportland Yamaha, Cle Elum.

Leipheimers it is. I think Mark said he would still have it on Tuesday. You should probably call to confirm. 782-4225

Hey VT,
Do you have a date on when or where in In Coeur d'Alene the S10 will be? I would send my brother over there from St. Maries to take a look for me!

As soon as I find out from Al's Cycle how long they will have it in Hamilton I will let you know...he said it is headed to CDA after that. I need to let my friend in Spokane know this info as well...he ordered a fast Blue one ;D

VigilanteTrail,

Thank you. I will be checking in everyday to see when. Do you (or anyone) know if an S10 will be on the west coast north of the California line anytime in the near future?

Thanks to all for any information.

I was really happy with it overall. My main concern was fit, seat, bars etc. All is good for me. The rest of it will be fine also. I only ride one up so power isn't an issue. In fact I would opt for a smaller engine and less weight. However, it felt like it was much lighter than my FJR and there is actually only 50 lbs difference I think. I'm 5'10" w/32" inseam and did the flat foot on the high seat. I did notice that the side stand needed some help to fully deploy and that might have been a product of 29 degree cold. But if not, it is something to be addressed as that could really be the cause of a 0 speed tip over. The embarrassing kind at the gas station in front of 7 Harleys!

Shuhite,

I am headed to Hamilton in the morning to check out the traveling Tenere in question. Dealer called me on Monday and said it would be arriving late this afternoon. Sounds like they will have it until the middle of next week or so. I'll get more specifics when I get there tomorrow and try to find out when and where it is headed after this stop. More info when I have it. Cheers!

Good stuff Hipshot! As mentioned above I am headed to check it out in the AM. Sounds like I have a good chance of taking it for a spin as well ;D We shall see.
I'll check out that side stand observation tomorrow as it should be warmer.
Will report back after the trip.

I ended up not driving down to Butte when it was there. It had snowed a tiny bit overnight, here in Helena so, figured a ride was unlikely and also was a bit busy that day. I'll just ride mine when it gets here. I already spent 9 hours, off and on, crawling all over the two Yamaha-both ones and looking over the Altrider one, when at the Seattle Motorcycle show, so had all the info I could possibly actquire from a non-moving bike.

I appreciate all you guys bringing it up, though, since if I would have simply missed it, then I would have convinced myself that I would have gone. This way, I decided not to go, which is much better than missing it. Ha.

Hello Everyone! This my first post in this forum and I am really excited about this bike. I plan on ordering one in the next week or so. I am hoping that Yamaha will announce in the next week that we can order the bike in the Competition White color. But I am not holding my breath. It will probably be blue, but haven't ruled out black yet.

I emailed Casey at Specialty Recreation in CDA about the posts that it might be heading to CDA next week. He emailed me back to say that it is scheduled at his location on Wednesday Afternoon and will be there until maybe Friday Morning. I can't wait to sit on it and check it out.

So VigilanteTrail what was your impression of the bike in Hamilton? Were you able to do a test ride?

Welcome aboard Mike!!! I would not expect the white to be available here for at least a year. You may as well go with the fastest color: Blue.

Hipshot,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Yes I was able to take the scoot for a run this last Thursday...must have been around 20 miles I put on it.
My impression of the bike is that I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE in ordering one ;D

I will be honest and let everyone know that I can't get specific and compare the Super Ten to any other Adventure bikes really...other than I rode an '04 GS1150 Adventure a few years ago which is what made up my mind on what my next type of bike purchase would be 8) The XTZ1200 has more power, shifts much smoother, seems more refined if you will, and feels more nimble.

What impressed me the most about this scoot was the low end torque and subsequent power transfer...to "steal the thunder" of another fellow test rider that day..."It felt like it was a chain drive almost...didn't seem to lose anything with the shaft drive as I would have thought". I ran it in "S" mode for the entire test ride by the way.

The riding position was comfortable but I think I will raise the seat height...if I remember correctly it was setup in the lower position of the two I think.
I think I may have noticed what you were talking about on the deployment of the sidestand...it seemed like I had to give it too much attention to get it down using that little rod tab they come with. (Sorry I do not know the proper nomenclature for this feature thingy) I ended up just pushing the foot of the sidestand to deploy it instead. Is this the same thing you were talking about in your comments about it??

I know that I will be messing with the stock windshield as well...more than likely will replace it before I go on any really long rides.

Overall I am thoroughly impressed with this machine...I love how it is more compact than the GS1200 but it still has more girth in person than I expected from just seeing pictures of it before. I agree that it doesn't feel like it weighs 575 lbs...as mentioned it is nimble and handles sweet. I am sort of glad it was fairly breezy during my test ride because I was able to see how it dealt with some gusting and such at highway speeds...no problemo and pretty solid.

I thought this opportunity to take one for a ride would maybe take the edge off until I take delivery of my new ride...not quite folks...I think it has just made the wait even worse!! Can't wait to get my very own 8)

Cheers,
VT

My thought on the side stand had more to do with the fact that you had to pay too much attention to get it fully deployed. It really is kind of a pain to try to find the pin in front of the peg or put your toe behind the peg to get it started. But it would not go to full forward position without some extra help. It was like it needed some lube or something to make it a smooth transition to forward position. I might be over playing this but I really hate dropping a bike at zero MPH or at any MPH for that matter.
