my daily driver has a 1300 mile range between fill ups . but the tank holds 200 gallons .
a few years ago on a trip to Colorado . my friend on a 1200 triumph me on my Tenere . his fuel range sucked . all are stops was according to his fuel gage . those milages suggested on the article are fantasy .

If i read a article on a motorcycle or watch a test of a bike and the reviewer states the gas mileage they are getting with said bike I usually get better than they do on the same bike. Of course they are flogging the heck out of the bike and something i am going to keep for years is not going to get treated that way. the mileage in this article is crazy! I would never be able to do better than that! haha. I have never rode a Triumph triple for long mileage and tested gas mileage on one. i have never heard of the big triples getting good milage from anyone. I bet they probably do O.K. but what I hear they are thirsty. they sound so mean wound up though! that doesn't help mileage haha.

my friends triumph had a 1 gallon smaller tank than the Tenere and made 30 plus horse power more . means shorter range .

In theory I can get 360 mile range out of my Ducati with its 8gal tank but based on my real world mpg I’m realistically getting 280-310 miles before I’m on fumes.

I've noticed over the years that seems to be most vehicles. There are times when my speed(s) have been down around 60mph, the guesstimated range, with a full tank, gets up around 400miles. But as soon as get onto the highway it drops back down. There was one day that the bike was making fuel. Range was up around 425mi. Warm day and 40mph.

We've come a long way. I-20 and I-30 through Ft. Worth and Dallas are both 70mph. I-10 West of Kerrville is 80mph. And we even have a 41 mile stretch around Austin that's 85mph. 1744601498271.png

85-MPH, no way! Thats haulin ass, but I think that's written into texas law somewhere, that the speedlimit should reflect the speed that a majority of vehicles are consistently traveling at.

The VStrom 650 has great range, and can in certain cases get into the low 60s MPG.

Sometimes.

But 67? Not unless you had a strong tailwind for an entire tank…

I had a conversation with TxDot once upon a time. One of their admins had received a ticket on a stretch of road in the city. So TxDot raised the speed limit. I asked the person why the highway speed limit was 90mph then. Crickets. So yes, they do a "survey" of the speed of traffic, and then "adjust appropriately". With 70/75mph as the speed limits nowadays, I don't even speed. Set the cruise and relax. Much faster and the mileage drops like a rock. Jeep or bike.

South Dakota has high speed limits like that but they lower them down from Sturgis to past Rapid City during the bike rally. That is a good idea I think. Seems to be a lot of inexperienced bikers there at times. On top of that what ever the speed limit is a very high percentage of the drivers are doing at least 10 over if not more. I have read and heard from Iron Butt long haul people that riding a bike at 85 or over is much more tiring than riding just a few miles an hour slower. With an 85mph speed limit i would expect to see a lot of people up near 95 to 100 mph.

Yeah, that's the thing, in Idaho, where the speed limit on the interstates is 75-80mph, I often no longer do my standard 10 mph over the speed limit. I just set the cruise control at the speed limit and go.

Yeah, I've noticed that she doesn't mind 73/74 but 75 and above the mileage starts dropping.
