Well it's been about 10 months since I sold my '14ES. Starting to really miss that bike. Been riding a few different bikes since the S10, a couple of Beemers and a Triumph Trophy. I came to the S10 from an Explorer so the Trophy is a comfortable fit, like an old pair of riding gloves. I have never bonded to the '16 BMW RS that I bought when I sold the S10. It's actually on eBay as I write this. Bottom line is all bikes have checks in the plus and minus columns but the S10 was one bike that I always wanted to ride. Didn't matter the weather, the reason or how I felt I was always eager to get on it. It's the bike I wanted to be on when it was 4pm and I was still 200 miles from home. Even if it was a tad under powered I may have to start looking for another one!

I thought for a bit about selling mine because as always, I have bike lust but decided to keep it and just add-on something else :)

Its good to see that you're coming back to the "blue side."

You and I have conversed about the Super Tenere in the past and it was partly your input that swayed me to pull the trigger on one earlier this year. It has exceeded all of my expectations. Thanks!

My S10 fits like an old pair of shoes. It's comfy and ready to go wherever. It's my Big Easy.

We knew you'd be back ;)

Glad to see that you're doing well and riding again. Maybe should have listened to my own advice!

Friend of mine just bought a new KTM 1190, 147 horse ! Yes i often see folks saying the Tenere is underpowered but it sure has waaaay more power than i will ever need. I hope the KTM works out great for him.

Wish it had a little more for those tight "I want to get around this truck (lorrie)" passing situations. I don't need a 160hp AdTouring bike but if I had one complaint about the S10 is that it has an 8000rpm redline but nothing happens between 6000 and 8000. I guess its all a compromise because the BMW RS I bought has plenty more power but I can't bond to it the way I was bonded to the S10.

A flash, PCV and Arrow headers adds considerable power. I was never left wishing I had more.

You on your S10, take your buddy with the 1190 on a solid 10-12 hour day ride, and maybe a 95-100 degree day with a few long accidental stoplight-traffic stops mixed in. At the 300-400+ mile mark, ask your buddy to swap bikes and see what happens, and key in on what he says the next day. :) Comfort, heat, fatigue, ergos...all things that come in to play when considering any of these ADV bikes for longer rides. Had my eyes on the new KTM 1290 but comfort is important - S10!

Second that. ::008::
May I add Reliability and low maintenance also to the list? In my opinion, when you load up your adventure bike and set out on a multi-day long distance trip, if you have to worry about potential mechanical failures on the way or the impending $1500 major service when you get back, then it's not a adventure motorcycle worth having, even if it has a few extra horses. If you want the occasional thrill of high speeds, get a supersports bike in addition if you can afford it.
I hope to run my current S10 as long as it could or until the next gen S10 is produced...whichever comes first! :)

Exactly. That's sort of what a few of my riding buddies and I did. We use our S10s as the comfort / multi-day ADV bike and saved enough buying a Super Tenere' to ride a second sport bike or 500 offroad/dual sport bike for more serious offroad riding. So far, I'm liking the 1200 ADV and 500 dual sport dirt bike combo. This checks most of the boxes on each end of the spectrum well enough.

Yeah, that's why I got myself a Panigale. But sometimes it feels like you are cheating on the S10 with a fast hot chick on the side. ::025::

Anyone else having side affairs like this? :)
