Grats on the 350 ac!

I've been riding all summer on my WR250R with two guys - one has a KTM350 like you and the other has a KTM two stroke 300. Their roommate now just bought a KTM500 so I'll get a chance to try that once the weather warms up!

So far for me at least it goes like this - the 300 wants to kill you and is mental fast, the 350 on stock sprockets is fun/nice. Both of them call the WR a Cadillac and when we're connecting trails I'm the most comfortable.

Sweet Anthony!!!

At my age, skill level and preferred riding style the WR is the perfect bike for me.

Congrats. Now go rip it up!

Just added to my DR a fancy new modular storage system + ;)

Duratool top box (thank ye for the tip BeemerDonS)

and Shadow provided security to keep out the paparazzi prior to public release!

Now for the high $$ modular part. Additional matching storage modules will be added as they become available.

Custom trail jack rides in front of the modular storage system just like someone designed it to fit the box. Works great for chain maintenance or rear tire change far from home. Still working on how to use it to raise the front. Might involve welding a nubbin on the skid plate. Another custom project waiting to happen.

Yep Harrison, spiffy oil bottle modular storage system. On the ground test of new system this afternoon. Weighs more than I'd like but outfitted for most contingencies and readily transferable to another bike.

Finish all that high bred schoolin' and you will be home before you know it. Nobody will be able to understand you given all that edumucation, but you will be home. ;D

Soon we ride! ::014::

All good mate. BTW I notice you have a WR250R as well as the S10. I'm about to buy one for a Cape York trip next July so would be very interested in your thoughts. Seems like an awesome machine.

Squarebore -

I still have my WRR and do still enjoy it. Every now & then I get the itch for a KTM 690 or 350EXC and of course who doesn't enjoy more power. But with a Seat Concepts recover kit, the WRR does everything I want and I have so little in it that I flog it without worrying about the bike. Perfect counterpoint to the Super Tenere.

Thumpers are great companion bikes for the Tenere. My woods bike and little Blackie

For me it was the inexpensive acquisition of the DR650, coupled with the sufficient amount of grunt, a low center of gravity, and most importantly, an honest evaluation of the terrain available to me 95% of the time. That is what makes my DR an ideal second bike.

The DR and little Blackie ;D

I guess I take the thumper to Tenere thing pretty seriously.

You WR guys have probably seen these videos but they have strongly influenced my decision to buy a WR250R for a Cape York trip in July next year. https://youtu.be/CjebEnWlG2M and https://youtu.be/rRmCeDU12Cc
If I had regular access to the type of terrain shown in video 2 then I would still have the WR. That bike is perfectly matched to that kind of riding.

Had the WRR out splashing in the mud and creeks yesterday. Having had it for more than a year and 2 work-mates having just bought 690R's, I must say that I've got the itch for more power, rather than constantly needing to wind it up.

Checks that's the problem with 4 stroke 250s. The WRs seem like the ultimate durable explorer bike. If your looking for more performance that's plated give the RS model from Beta a look. 244 lbs light, fuel injected,Sach suspension, brembro brakes. The Betas are good riding bikes. My dealer sells $200 over his invoice. I'm sure you could get on one cheaper than a 690. I'd love to have one in the future! I've been real happy with my x trainer!

Hummm.... that sounds familiar. Been there done that.

I've never regretted going to the DR650. It's just an inexpensive, plain Jane, bulletproof, stupid fun bike that is far better than its specs suggest. It just never fails to put a smile on my face. I can list a bunch of stuff I wish it did better, front end too heavy, wheelies for crap, stock seat sucks, the list goes on and on, but the truth is, even with all its faults, the bike is just a joy to ride.

Maybe when you and I finally do catch up we should do it up in the Frederick Watershed with the little bikes. You should try my boring old DR650.

Ahem... I call bullshit. No bike that wheelies for crap can be a joy for YOU to ride!!!
I don't know, the Tenere wheelies for crap and I'm pretty fond of that bike.

Not saying the DR doesn't wheelie, but it could be a whole lot easier.
