So I got my S10 just in time for the monsoon season in Tennessee. We have been pretty lucky over June, it's been a little warm but dry. The heat and humidity have been creeping up lately though. I took a few rides over an extended weekend in higher temps than I normally would and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with how well the S10 keeps heat off of you. I came from a second gen FJR1300 and even after they did the heat management updates, it was still too warm for me in the summer. As I've gotten older and grumpier, I'm less tolerant of the heat than cold. I ride in colder temps than I did when I was younger. I guess knowing to buy good cold weather gear helps as well. I'm just happy I may get my upper temp limit raised and get to ride a little more this summer.

Opinion: Some people are good with cold, and others with heat. Some can get used to it, others can't. @Cycledude rides in the snow but was talking about 85° being miserable the other day.

My first summer on motors was miserable. The next summer was less so, and so on. A lot of it is mind of matter. I don't have much of a mind, so it doesn't matter. A CamelBak, or similar system, makes such a huge difference. But my time on bikes is what allows me to ride through our summers without issue. That being said, I don't ride for hours on end either, so. . . .

That surprises me. I have one kid with a '14 FJR and he doesn't mention the heat, but were all pretty used to it by now.

I have a 2005 FJR and it will melt you in the summer. I rode it right on and did ok with it in the heat till I started riding the Super T. It is 10 times cooler in the summer! O.K. I can't validate that multiple but it is amazing the difference between the two. Here is the strange thing the Super T is warmer in the winter than the FJR!

I've seen similar inventions for cars. Attached over the vents, with a hose that had a nozzle that you could put down the front of your vest/shirt. But it was for a/c instead of heat.

One of the issue with complaint about heat from the rad side I found is guys don't gear up properly.
Yes there will be more heat coming from the rad side and if your in shorts or regular jeans, even armored jeans you will feel the heat on a hot enough day, especially on a long distance run. But wearing proper ADV gear will virtually eliminate that.
I know, lots out there can't wear proper gear when its hot, but your gear protects you from not just the unexpected but also the elements such as hot air from the radiator.
I wear my light riding armored jeans when I go for short 1/2day runs and I can honestly say I'm way hotter wearing those then my tech gear.

Fair points there. I too find that proper riding gear negates left leg heat. Even on 95°+ days black klim latitude misano pants keep the left as comfortable as the right, whereas in jeans I could fry an egg on the thigh.

well its hot in Texas ... but any and only when I feel heat at all coming from my 2019 Tenere it is around my left foot ... not radiator , just from it it seems from under bike onto my left foot. see plenty of guys riding with out gear , shorts and t-shirts , their still hot and unprotected and just stupid.

i run either darien pants or a full roadcrafter suit. the dariens i feel a little more radiator heat in... that said they're a bit breezier overall than the RC suit, and combined with my olympia jacket with all the mesh vents open... not too bad. i just did a rip through the midwest in upper 80s with plenty of humidity and wiht the camelback i was feeling good. bunch of ~600 mile days.

i did ditch the darien pants for a short stretch in illinois, and rather quickly realized that the heat from the engine through my street pants offset any extra breathability... so i geared back up at the next gas stop .

. . . . it will dehydrate you in a heartbeat with all that skin in the wind.
Absolutely. My CamelBak, which I did not get for this particular reason, was life changing. Riding around for 10hrs a day in the Texas summertime . . . . I always stayed hydrated. My buddies that "didn't want to bother with it" . . . . ended up with kidney stones. I am proud to say that I have never had the displeasure of pissing rocks.
