I HAD been telling my wife how great the SuperT is UNTIL I actually took delivery. Since then all I have done is complain about the stock saddle - so I'm quite sure my wife will be as uncomfortable as your wife when she finally has her first ride.

BTW, how tall is your wife?

Spkldoe's only complaint is the seat (and I'm not real fond of it either). No doubt in my mind that mc manufacturers have stock in aftermarket seat companies.

Do any of you have trouble with the middle of the bike bottoming out when 2-up and riding aggressively on twisty tarmac?

I scraped the skid plate 4 times yesterday afternoon on humpity hoop-te-doos, all in turns, on mtn roads yesterday. Like riding a cruiser with floorboards...well almost that bad.

Rod,

Not married ::008:: but anyway... she's 5'10", and pretty long-legged. I think that's part of the problem - not much to be done about that!

But the other things - turbulance/buffeting, a taller shield might help, but I don't plan on going any more than 2-3 inches over stock so maybe that won't be enough to affect the passenger.

Security - she was uncomfortable partly because she didn't feel as secure has she had on the Strom. This will be fixed once I space out the Jesses so the grab rails are usable, and I'll have a top box that she can lean on before too long.

Seat - she hated the texture. Not sure how she could be more sensitive to it than me - I mean, I have a bottom like a baby's, soft and smooth and delicate... eerrr... maybe not. Not sure what to do about that, short of getting the seat re-covered.

My occasional passenger is back in college and has not had an opportunity to complain about the S10 yet. She's used to a DL1000 with top case to lean against and sleep. No top case on the S10 so I suspect she won't like that part. Maybe next year I'll get my passenger back.

My GF likes the back of the ST. I have Jesse's on it with a top case. She holds on to the grab rails and leans back on the top case. She is also 5'10". The Jesse's are nice, I move them back for her and she has plenty of leg room. The longest ride we have done together was 250 miles in a day. It will be interesting when we go longer.

My wife thinks the Super Tenere with a Bill Mayer seat is better than our 1150RT with a standard corbin. She does look forward to a backrest/topcase on the ST, but we easily did about 18 hours/650 miles in two days over the weekend. She's 5'5'' with longer legs. I think that with the top case, she'll be good for all day.

Thanks for the info! My wife is about 5'6" or so, so hopefully she will be fine with the peg position. She was fine on my DL650. She has always insisted on having either a backrest or a tail trunk to lean against. As for the texture, she THINKS she will like it as she often complains of sliding forward toward me. Time will tell.

Got a good chuckle out of all the bottom garment combinations ::025:: My wife is shorter at 5'4" and doesn't have much experience riding on the back of my previous bikes ( mainly because they were sport oriented bikes). Her main comment was about the grab rails being so low and not feeling secure on the bike. I do have a top case with backrest (Givi Trekker) so just need her to get more seat time to feel comfortable.

My wife (5.5") really love's the ST. She likes the comfort, kneebent, position, feels secure. Before she was a passenger on my XJR1300.

I had to bring a fellow rider down the mountain near Monarch pass, Co. (east side) after his DR350 quit on top. It was a pretty steep, rutted rocks and baby heads for about 6 miles. I had left my rear seat at home as I carried 2 dry bags with tent and sleeping bag stuff. He thought the cargo rack was pretty comfortable considering the conditions. Think he was just glad we made it down okay, right at dark also. He was 185 lbs and I'm about 175 lbs, so needless to say, the rear end was pretty much overwhelmed even with full preload cranked in.

The ST lived up to the sticker from Wasp, as the rider although not on his bmw at the time, he is a bmw owner and it was an official recovery! ::012::

Does she notice any heat from the Akra muffler without the heat shield? Also how is the sound of that system from a passenger perspective?

No heat noticable, I'm waiting for my heat shield to arrive back from Jaxon, it's with customes now.

The sound is a lot louder after fitting the Arrows headers for me, my girlfriend doesn't notice any difference...... ::025::

Ah, the Revit Sand jacket. I have one in the same color. My only complaint is the 'water proof' inner liner, which collects water in the elastic at the lower seam, at it eventually soaks through to your clothes. All the more reason to carry a rain jack I suppose...just a little surprized that a jacket that costs twice as much as my Bellstaff Mercury does a far worse job in the rain. Love the fit and comfort though.
