Not just a name for a bar, but for my S10. Two (2) months old and 1,400 miles and the better part of half of the front spokes are horribly pitted. ::010:: So off to the dealership and warranty claim last week, now i am just waiting to hear back, the dealership seems to think yamaha will just send a new front wheel. Either way i am sure it will be taken care of.

Why o'why doesn't Yamaha use stainless spokes :'( i see a Woody's lace job in my future.

Friend of mine over here in the UK had the same problem, except both wheels were affected

Yamaha simply provided a new set of spokes and gave the dealer an 'allowance' to have the wheel re-built. The dealer, however, went the extra yard and had the wheels rebuilt with stainless at his expense.

Yamaha will only provide original spec spokes. My mates dealer provided the stainless spokes as a goodwill gesture at his expense.

I had both my wheels respoked under warranty (claiming just before the warranty was over) along with brake hoses, gear lever, brake caliper mounting bolts, dzus fasteners, final drive vent, pinch bolts......basically anything that had a galvanised finish. Apart from the crap on the front of the engine, the bike looks new again.....well, it would do if I gave it a clean....

My spokes were replaced under warrently they also swapped out some bolts /front water pipe (2nd time) and I think they fitted new hubs too as the rear was no longer the same faded black colour as the final drive ... if your checking for corroision check the frame around the main engine bolt tubes the paint on the ends can flake and let rust in hidden under the rubber bungs. Also check brackets welded onto the main frame tubes as they may have poor paint coverage from new. :/

Dealer just called, new spokes arriving Friday. I will lett hem replace next week. I figured Yammy wouldn't send a new wheel, the dealer was a bit optimistic on that one. I will definitely do a Woody's lace job later on down the road.

Did you get it done at Ian Bell Yamaha? They did mine and I thought I'd got new hubs as well.....

Yup I was wondering if they had issues with spokes hole in the original hubs.
