A fence post or branch pounded into the ground works when there are no trees nearby.
Problem is finding something close by. Block and tackle is a good idea.
When in doubt, improvise, overcome, adapt.

A 30 ft strap will reach quite a ways, and the bushes can be pretty solidly anchored and if you hooked up around the base of one it might do the trick.

I just though of something, using two concurrently side by side, you would be able to loosen one while the other is holding so you could reset one to get more travel without having to prop up the bike to reset the first one if you needed it. Those small ratcheting tie downs only suck up a couple of feet before they run out of room to ratchet any further.

Yea thats an idea. Two ratchets. It might take a little longer. The medium sized ratcheting tie down straps I have used only suck up maybe a foot before the wind gets large inside and becomes harder to release. As I said before maybe this is something else ...

The lightest and most flexible arrangement I can think of is just 50' of 1/4" dacron double braid line - you can bend eyes into it anywhere you need to multiply purchase, or use a couple bullet blocks if you want to get fancy. Whole setup comes out under $30.

" It's light. It's powerfull. And it shares your sense of adventure" Great copy. That unit must be made for the ATV market. Although they show it on a Tenere I doubt that the stock luggage rack would survive much use as a winch point.

Being able to and not having to are two very different things. The ST is bit more work compared to real dirt bike to pick up solo on a rocky hill side and other places as I found myself doing 3 times on a recent exploration trip in the Chadwick, Missouri area :p

I took my S10 there too.. On stock battlewings. It was a nightmare.
