The Tenere isn't a good looking bike....rather ugly in my opinion. It's cool, though. I rode a Versys for years and actually loved the looks of that motorcycle because it was so odd looking.

I had an early Versys 650 as well and a good part of the attraction was that unique headlight and fairing design. When they changed over to the more angular fairings with the all too typical dual angled headlight combo, it just became another japanese bike in the crowd. Much of the same applies to the Super Tenere, and many of the big bore ADV bikes, their uniqueness is part of the appeal.

Ya know, many of the bike rags criticize the looks of the Tenere because it doesn't have a beak. Now we have the Honda AT with no beak and the rags can't heap enough praise on it. I bought my Tenere for the legendary Yamaha reliability and the do it all nature of the machine. Aside from being somewhat heavy to move around, and the fact that I have a 28" inseam, the bike is flawless, both in looks and performance, for my need and wants. The "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" moniker definitely applies. When comparing it to other machines, I just have to remember that "beauty is only skin deep, but ugly is to the bone".

I realize "beauty is in the eye.......", and that not everyone will feel the same about anything. But I never understood the opinion that a Tenere was homely.

The very second I first saw one on this forum, before the first one ever arrived on our yankee shores, I thought they were sexy.
(Although, I must admit that my favorite store is Tractor Supply. So that might explain some things about me)

And over the last 5 years, there have been so many incredible pictures of this machine captured in sunrises and sunsets that literally frame them as ART!
The Tenere NEVER takes away from the a beautiful landscape, in my opinion.

And the S10 is a wonderful canvas to turn it into anything you might dream! (As Jaime's and Jaxon have shown with theirs)
Here is a shot of mine this crisp 32 degree morning. (minus its chest armor. Having it adjusted for front knobby clearance at bottoming. :) )

Thanks Robocop!!!!!

KlingKlang, I know all the old-timers (meant affectionately) around here already know the story, so hopefully they'll tolerate the re-hash.........

I bought a helmet a couple of years ago and I had never purchased a "pretty" helmet in 50 years of riding. When it came in I was so proud of it that I dropped it and my Tenere off at Jaxon's place in Texas.
Told him I wanted my bike to match my helmet. ::)

He did a few other things, while he was at it.
I didn't have the most ratted out Tenere at the time, but I wasn't too far behind anyone. So this wasn't intended to make a street bike out of it, or anything like that.

I think I washed it by riding it in the rain a few times since. But it's lost it's shiny "come and get it Snake. I'm finished with it" luster.

This is what I picked up that day. Jaxon understands me. He literally put his heart in it to bring me some happiness. I love that guy!

Went straight to Romney and christened it with TrikePilot and eemsreno! (and a bunch of other crazy ole coots)

I don't care what anybody says, there is still no other complete package like the Tenere. (emphasis on it takes a bashing and keeps on delivering)
And this one deserves to come out of the barn and get another round of Adventure. I'm hoping I'm worthy!

Thanks, I'll sure keep this one as an inspiration. Just got a boring looking 2016 black ES. I too have my helmet in mind for what I would like.
Do you mind if I take that pic to do some photoshop for my personal use and play with the color a bit.

Just don't be too conservative! You only live on this big green ball for a little while. ::013::

This is the very definition of subjective - but I really like the way the Super Tenere looks - elegance in engineering (by which i roughly mean function-appropriate solutions only) and visual economy sings to me - when I look at my bike there is virtually nothing there for appearance's sake only, while being clearly over-built in some places, it is both big and compact, and that is a very satisfying thing to look at for me.

When I look at other bikes i see single sided swing arms, pointless plastic, and .... well there's enough on here about the cylinders sticking out the side, or chain-drives, ridiculous software and an insane obsession with HP.

I'm sure the press is in a large part to blame. If I had no hands I could count on my fingers the number of times I've cared about adjusting my screen on the move etc.

That blue road bike is nice. It is amazing how much nimbleness we give up hanging skid plates, crash bars, top boxes, trailer hitches, dual-sport tires, etc.
