Some find that to be a good lookin' bike. I don't get it. How the heck would that thing handle in the dirt with that rake angle?

Yeah it's not s'possed to be a dirt bike ... more a funky take on a different look. I just like stuff like that ... always liked the Zero Engineering bikes as well. Purely the form not the function apart from a bike that rolls.

There are bits and pieces on these that I really like and will consider for my Thunderbird.

This maybe?
I thought the same thing when the XR1200 came out. I did some wrenching on XR750's back in the 70's and I always wanted a street legal XR, so I had to have the 1200. Sold it with 700 miles on the clock. It had that "cool" factor, but was no fun to ride. YMMV.

I always wanted a street legal XR too and almost bought the 1200. Then I found out about the ethanol induced swelling/leaking gas tanks that Harley wouldn't address out of warranty. A flashback to my '05 Ducati made me buy a Street Triple instead. No regrets.

A motorcycle friend has a very nice XR1200 and I am hoping he will want to sell it. That would be a fun motorcycle.
