Well, the Finns must be a nice bunch of folks. Google says that your "strong curse word" is devil. Makes the rest of us look like savages. :D

Yes, I'm a little drunk.
Sierra1, yep, google translates that "perkele" means "devil"? To us, it doesn't mean that or really anything else. We just say "perkele" when things don't go well. I can't say it better but we say it in almost every sentence.:D

Then someone says that we Finns are the happiest nation in the world... I wouldn't be quite sure about that?

Perkele is used much like mɛʀd in France, dammit in the US or bugger in the UK. General purpose F words.

Side note, who knew there is actually a Wiki for Finnish profanity? I guess everything is on the internet if you look in the right places! :D

I always use merd(e) when I don't want to get in trouble for calling someone a do-do head. Damnit doesn't even get censored on TV anymore. But bugger? Yup, straight up F-bomb. :D
Fun fact: when I was a kid delivering newspapers, I had a bicycle trailer that was called a Bugger.

The Utah to Mississippi transition was a little challenging at first. Accent mostly. Oregon to Utah was not as bad. Mostly local names mis-pronounced. They do that here too. Grates on me to no end when they pronounce Saltillo as Sall Till O instead of Saa tio per Spanish, which is where the name came from. Or call a shopping cart a 'buggy', and are too lazy/apathetic to return it to the "cart return" that is labeled that way, so just leave it in the middle of the parking lot.
