I've been in the eastern part of Germany for about the last month since getting back from the UK. Great spot here but I'm getting itchy feet, especially since the bike was down for a couple of weeks getting a bad stator diagnosed and replaced. Yamaha were awesome once again in helping me get it fixed quickly.

Unbelievably great to be out on the Super Tenere again - weather was chilly but sunny - the kind of autumn days that I really love. We've had no sun here for about last 3 weeks.
Having been off the Super Tenere for a while makes me appreciate it even more. In that time I've ridden a few other bikes, including 2 recent water-cooled GS's and one of the previous generation bikes. The wasser-boxer is much quicker and a lot of fun, but also needs to be revved and definitely has a powerband. The older GS is more relaxed, much like the Super Tenere. But I just like the S10 more - it's quick enough and it handles as well as either of them (despite being a tad heavier) and compared to the GS's the gearbox is buttery smooth, still, despite having done 4 or 5 times the mileage of any of the GS's. The S10 engine is more mechanically noisy, but I always wear earplugs so it make no difference to me...
It's the one year anniversary of turning over 100,000 miles, and I'm sad to say we've only added 21,000 since then. I'm sorry baby, I know you could have done a lot more, but I've been dragging my feet a bit this year, will try to do better next, promise!
For now the sun is setting on the Super Tenere for a while - I'll be storing it here in Germany while I head to SE Asia for the winter. Thailand first and around, ending up in Cambodia by January where I'm told some kind of volunteer teaching position awaits. A ride around Cambodia is on the cards, should be interesting times.
I have some big travel plans for the S10 for next year, I just don't know what they are just yet!
