Well 1 full week, and the farkles begin. I ordered a MadStad windshield bracket, and GIVI crash..oops I mean GIVI "protection" bars, of course a GPS bracket for my Garmin Colorado 400t, ( I do geocaching also). It was easy sneaking parts in when I had 4 motorcycles! Now I am down to 2 (My Mz Baghira and the Tenere) . The minister of finance and fun, also known as my LOVING WIFE! is keeping a very close eye on boxes coming into the garage! Her response is "THIS NEW BIKE IS NOT SAVING US ANY MONEY IS IT? ::002:: ::010:: ::009:: My response...... O:) ::001:: 8)

Congrats!!!! As we just had this "Wife Finances discussion" with the other Tenere owners at my recent BBQ/Ride function, we too talked how the wives don't need to know the exact amount, yet they are pretty kewn to see the UPS boxes show up on a regular basis.
WARNING!!!!
Don't add up the total amount several months down the road!!! You are prone to a sudden sharp pain in the chest as you fall off the floor!!!

Enjoy your ride

I have been through the money pit syndrome, too many times. I am am going to try and keep that to a minimum. I have a photography business that takes priority, (funds). So these items I got this time I felt were needed, more than wanted. My wife is awesome and puts up wth a TON of insanity, so I figure, it is best not to push it too hard......... for now anyway!!!

Spend it. Spend it all. You can't take it with you and life is too short.

Well that's the way I'm looking at it ..... wonder how long i'll get away with it. ::)

As a soldier I don't have any money and my life expectancy isn't particularly great. This isn't gonna take long either way :(

I've got 15+ years in to date .... dark humour ... gotta love it. Still got no money though ... wife spent everything whilst I was away ... and I gave my combat pay to the Wounded Warrior Project. Had a bit left for the Thunderbird. So very happy :)

Having just spent over £10k in a day (wedding) she is not in a position to moan about the odd box arriving, add in the Honeymoon and two weeks of no earnings (Self Employed) and that is nearer £20k on something that is now all gone!

£12k on a Tenere and a few bits and pieces that would last ten years and still hold a 30%+ residual value is insignificant, and if you take that as £12k spent, with a £4k residual value ten years on it is only £8k - which is what I sold the GS for so the bike has actually cost me Zero Pounds and Zero Pence so I still have £20k to play with.

CSE maths comes in handy sometimes ::003::

LOL.
While in Australia, it never took more than 2 words out of my mouth for any local to KNOW I wasn't. (I got a hell of a draw and I haven't been seen without a cowboy hat on my head for many many years) Anyways, was often asked if I was a yank. "Nope, I'm from Texas"

And just so this post isn't 100% hijack material, farkling your S10 is not as voluntary as most other bikes. I can think of no other bike that begs to be "finished" by the owner more than this one. It's just too versatile for Yamaha to know which way to complete it for you.

:) So .... like I was sayin' .... spend it while ya got it. You're right. The Tenere does lend itself to fettlin' n embelishin' with shiney farkles. An then when I get the opportunity I'm gonna repaint the thing with a large offset Lone Star on the tank. (Notice I bought the Capt America Thunderbird ... Red, white n blue ... with a Lone Star shield emblem.
