My wife: Honey, since I have to work today, would you go get the turkey, eggs, blah, blah, blah. And don’t forget pie for desert!
Me : Sure, no problem. A Julian Dutch Apple Crumb pie?
My wife: Yes dear.
And I was on it. The other errands were accomplished before 9:00 AM. I could have bought the pie at the grocery store, but no, that’s not how I roll!
It’s a beautiful fall day here in San Diego County. Clear with temps in the high 80’s. So I gas up the bike and head for the hills.
Heading down the super slab.
Ahhhh! That’s better. (Lake Wolford)
Gonna work my way into that valley then up the other side!
In the valley is one of many Indian casinos (Harrahs, Rincon Band of Lesueno Indians)
Palomar Mtn. Up South Grade. No more needs to be said.
Just shy of a mile high.
Down East Grade to Lake Henshaw then over Mesa Grande.
Pitstop at the Hideout Saloon, only open on weekends. Guess I’ll have to wait for a getback whip!
Mesa Grande Rd.
My destination in the distance (it’s there, trust me)
So I didn’t go all the way to Julian. Instead, I stopped at the store in Santa Ysabel.
Busy day. And I had to have a taste.
3.5 hours and 115 miles later. Pie delivered!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
