Just wanted to thank all the contributors here.

I spent the afternoon working on my bike with tips from this forum! I changed my oil, final drive and engine coolant. I'm at about 21K and she was in need of some love. Good news, everything is solid with that bike.

Thanks for making it easy forum contributors! Keep it real.

Gaskets/Crush Washers and other Schools of Thought

Thought I had bought a few extra crush washers...

On-line at Yamaha parts house, each "gasket" (crush washer in my vocabulary) is $2.95. Question is, since I've already changed the oil, coolant, and final drive... should I even bother to worry about replacing all those crush washers for 3-bucks each?! The two on the crank case, I can see arguing for; but I suppose I shouldn't lose any sleep over the final drive and water pump "gaskets," now should I?

Double check that there is no fluid seeping out and you will be fine.

Next time, buy some replacement copper crush washers from any auto parts store for a few cents. Then continue to ride hard and live happy!
