Been riding a long while and every time I’d sell or trade a (road-legal) bike I jotted down it’s mileage and kept it in a file. While filing the mileages from 2012 and 2014 S10’s that were recently traded in I thought I’d add them all up to see what it came to and it was over a million miles. That’s not counting much of the youthful dirt years from single digits to 16yo.

Lot’s of gas, oil, parts, bones, plaster, morphine, people, meals, places, miracles, disasters, and wonderful memories in those miles.

Anyhow, I’m wondering how common that is and ask others to chime in with their life totals in the event they bothered keeping track of such a thing. Seems people are always just getting back from a 1438.6 mile adventure somewhere or ‘tother and those add up.

…And to think it all began on a 5hp Briggs & Stratton mini-bike.

I don’t have the accurate records from 40+ years ago but I do believe I’m currently somewhere past 900,000 miles. Other than killing 5 deer I’ve mostly been pretty lucky. Here is a picture of my Goldwing odometer taken about a month ago.

What's the highest mileage on a 'Wing that you know about? Without a rebuild.

I rode BMW for 20 some years, didn’t keep accurate numbers but they totaled over 600k kms. Switched to Kawasaki for 15 years and did 210k on a Drifter, 293k on a Nomad, 690k on a Voyager and 48k on a KLR. I’ve had T12 for 5 years and 190k and 2 years on a Goldwing for 70k. Throw in a few short term bikes from Harley and a SR500 and a couple thousand on my Trek, puts me over 2 million kms. But who’s counting?

Very nicely done, Cycledude! Your deer count is horrid and you're a fortunate man beyond doubt.

I reckon about 600,000 miles.

In that time:-

One accident where a lady hit the side of me as she changed lanes and wrote her car off when my crash bar peeled it all back. I stayed upright.

Hit and killed a small deer (Muntjac), I stayed upright with a very sore foot.

16 penalty points, in the following batches
4 Allowing someone to ride my bike who wasn't insured (1983)
3 Crossing double white lines (1985)
3 58mph in a 30 zone (1985)
3 48mph in a 30 zone (2015)
3 90mph in a 70 zone (2017)

Been through more rain than Noah by now I reckon.

Great accounting, thanks. You folks sure do get your rain yet also wear it with a smile. I admire that.

Big Congrats!! keep the wheels turning!!
I'm at 1,149,000 miles with 228,000 miles on Super Teneres. I tried to get 500k on both my Strom and HD but it just wasn't to be for either of them.

Geez I wish I had the time! 17 bikes and about 200K but a bunch of those were D/S bikes. I rode a Fatboy completely around the island of St Martin. (with a BMW shirt on)2013 Cruise 387.JPG

shows that modern bikes ridden and properly maintained can last along time ..... most get tired of their machine and get something new way before any great milage is accrued .
I ride as much as I can but I will never make those numbers on 2 wheels . I have 3 plus million on 18 wheels.

In awe of your road miles, Mad. You're right on about bikes to be sure. Recently traded a 14 toward a 21 and outside of routine maintenance the machine never saw a bit of repair. Only reason it was put on the block was that I had a 12 as well and a dealer was eager for two clean trades. Funny market these days.
