I think it will hardly show you the DIAG function, in the Z Gen I and Gen II (-2017)….
For Gen II (+2017), it seems to me that a disused cell phone or a tablet is more appropriate. With an app and connected (Permanently) to the ecu using an interface (cheap scanner)… you would have more information than what the dashboard gives you (rpm in numbers, charging voltage, lamda correction, throttle position, injection ramp pressure) …..and you can erase faults

First off, I said it was TFT in the subject line of my original post, the description of this says it is LCD so apologies about that.

I have a 2017 Gen 2 but I certainly have never been able to access the DIAG function. I think that is only available to Gen 1 bikes and only specific markets, but I am happy to be corrected if I am mistaken.

Im not sure what you mean about an app and permanently connecting a cell phone or tablet to the ecu? I haven’t heard of this before but I am happy to learn.

It's your lucky day!

Diagnostics are available through the stock display, full instructions can be found in the Factory Service manual. (I have a 2017 Gen 2 US model)

For a quick peek at how to access and what you can do with it, see here: https://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?threads/ecu-reflash-or-replace.31210/post-465139

It is that just in 2017 the new Gen II (-2017 and +2017) appeared… the -2017s can access the DIAG menu using the buttons on the dashboard.. On the +2017s the Diag menu is only accessed using the OBD connection (4 pins) that is under the cables on the right side of the bike. This access is via interface and using a scanner or an app downloaded on the cell phone.

this interface is exactly the same as I have,( you need a 4pins cable for S10 too) The important thing about these interfaces is that they are WIFI. those that are bluetooth, use communication protocols that some modern smartphones do not accept and do not manage to pair (especially iphone). if you download an application on your cell phone (such as "torque" or others), you can access data from the ECU, and "the best thing" is that you can see the fault codes and you can also "delete" those faults ( in the +2017 models)

The videos are in Spanish, I have not found in English, using the interface and app on the cell phone
In this case, it is using the Torque app, but there are other applications, there are even apps that simulate a dashboard (digital/analog)... that's why I commented that "it seems to me"... that with a disused (or current) cell phone, or a tablet... ..you could visualize more “interesting” things
