Anybody know anything about them? I've been shopping for a new tent and Woot has one today for what seems like a good deal. A Texsport 5-man tent. I tried searching for reviews on the internet and I cant find that model but the company itself gets mixed reviews.

I've had surprisingly good luck with tents from WalMart. I also have a Mountainsmith tent I picked up from Sierra Trading Post - love that tent. Cabela's has some excellent tents as well, though unless they are in the bargain cave, I'm not sure they are the best deal out there.

My last tent was a Walmart tent. It was not a great fit for me and leaked like a noodle strainer. The larger tents they have pack pretty big. I'll check out cabelas too. The Texsport looks like a pretty decent tent for $50. Without seeing it in the flesh it's hard to tell.

The Mountainsmith is great - it's a two man, which is perfect for my gear and I. Best part is that if I am on a 2-3 day trip, the poles are short enough that I can fit it in my Zega Pro panniers with my sleeping bag. I like traveling as light and compact as possible and keep the drybag for longer trips when the conditions will be more varied and necessitate a broader range of space consuming gear.

I have scored some nice high end gear you just need to keep looking. some Pawn shops in the high country have lots of stuff as well; I just scored a like new Sierra Designs Tiros Convertible CD Tent for $100.00 out of a pawn shop in Bayfield, Co on my way to Ouray, Co few weeks back.

My wife would love that tent... She's an Auburn fan. ::008::

I forgot to update this thread. I managed to get a Kelty Grand Mesa with my credit card points. I'm gonna have to figure out a weekend soon to get out and test it.

Don't be cheap but a wise shopper don't buy the super duper but don't buy a POS, do research and find what you need.
Bad knees and short low to the ground tents don't do well when your getting out of them but they do pack small.
Weather and wind proof is what you want along with good venting.
One person for good weather and two person for bad weather, it gets a bit claustrophobic in a one person rig by the end of one day. ???

Have used a Eureka for the last couple of years. 1 person Spitfire model. Packs small enough which is a real plus & weighs next to nothing. It is a bit on the small side but well constructed and the few times Ive been rained on its held the water fine. As funds allow, will be upgrading to a 2 person tent. Sort of wish I had done that to begin with but live and learn. Nice to be able to have extra room if the wifey decides to come along &/or extra room to stash gear close at hand. Ya get what ya pays for so will be staying with Eureka or something compareable.

The Eureka Back country is a roomy 1 person rig, I have a eureka zephyr xt long been discontinued since 1998 its like a Back country body.
Great tent and can take some good beatings, full cover rain fly, I am 6'3" 300+ pounds and i can sleep with no issues in this tent.

On long road trips I take a 2 person tent if I have to live on the road more than a week..
