Realizing your interest is in a single person tent my experience has been that a model sized up by one person is the appropriate size for the intended number of occupants. In my case I went with a Lone Rider adv tent and haven't had so much as a hitch and it fits nicely in the oem panniers of which I'm a longtime user and fan. Folds down easily, neatly and quickly, is very watertight, light, great in wind, and is well featured for ventilation or not. Storage is generous enough that you don't have to be too particular to get it to a stuffsize that easily goes in and out of your pannier. A lot to be said for self and gear living in the same space. Expensive and worth it. Good luck however you go!

its about the pole lengths .... a 2 person tent is more likely to have shorter poles than a 3 or 4 ... every brand is different . personally a one person tent is just miserable as in no room inside for anything but you. I would do nothing less than a 2 person.
Absolutely go for a bigger tent. I’ve got a 3 man tent just for me. Allows me to bring gear inside to stay dry and handy. No need to slum it when camping on a bike

I have a very nice 3 man , poles will not fit in my touratech panniers . so I take my Cabelas 2 man , everything fits inside the boxes . I use the 3 man when I truck camp..... 3 man is like a hotel compared to the 2 man ....
