I have heard from so many, and I appreciate it. But it looks like I am going to have to go by my heart. On one hand I am getting older, and don't have any ideal how much off road that I will be able to do. I have ridden motorcycles since I was 15, raced flat tracks, half miles, scrambles, motocross, and any off road I could do when I was young. Never had a road bike till I was in my late 20s. I guess we all would like to think we can keep it up like always. Anyway I think that the suspension, luggage capability, sitting up straighter and more comfortable seems to lean more toward the Tenere. Besides how may time do you nedd to go over 100 miles per hour. So I thank all who have responded to my post and really have helped me a lot.
That is the secret, your what your heart tells you.

Bought a 13 FJR as I fell in love with the styling and wanted one for years. Made the mistake of not test riding some other bikes first. Puf 1200 mikes on the FJR and then test rode a Tenere.

Sold the FJR shortly thereafter and couldnt be happier. The tenere is much more comfortable to me everywhere...ie road , twisties, cruising the interstate, around town and of course off road. The tenere feels much lighter to me both riding and just moving around the garage. My daughter felt the tenere was more comfortable with better visibility as a passenger as well. I felt like the FJR would want to dive into corners to much and I get none of the with the S10. Love the S10's relaxed ride and overdrive gear as well. I did enjoy the FJR motor and straight line acceleration... but I felt like I had to ride the FJR fast to have fun. The tenere I enjoy even if just riding along at 40 mph. So with that said, I feel im a much safer rider on the tenere.

I just the think Tenere ia a fantastic all around bike and I would choose it over the FJR or any streetbike anyday.... it just fits me better. Maybe because of my dirtbike background.

We all need a stable, and on the FJR Forum is a poll for the 5 bikes that each person really truly needs.

I seem to have bikes come and go through my fingers and the current two are the Tenere and WR250R. I really like them both, although I'll probably replace each with a newer version of the same at some point. The next 3 that will probably stick will be:

What would be my third FJR as the 3rd bike. It's that good.
Probably another Ducati or a antique
And possibly a Victory or Harley

Having traded the last of my 3 FJRs in for an S10, I do miss that motor and riding the twisties. But I like the S10s riding position better, and have found it is more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

Where I live does not present a lot of places to let the FJR do what it was made for. But all the rough roads around here make me feel like a gnarly adventurer just putzing around going to coffee on the S10 or WeeStrom.

Still, the Strom may have to go and make room for another FJR just for those times when I can use it properly. As Abercrombie reminded me at the FJR CFO meet: I ain't getting any younger.

If I had to sell either one, I'd miss it. Happy to not have to choose. 8)

I came from an 05 FJR which I totaled in 2011. I wanted to buy another FJR but wanted a 6th gear. I would have gotten the new 2013 FJR if it had been available even with the 5th gear. I chose the ST because I fit on it. I'm 6'2" with a 35" inseam and a lot of bikes feel too small. If you are going to stay on the pavement stick with the FJR. The ST is a good bike though. I have done an Iron Butt run on it with out issue. I added a beaded seat cover and I'm good. I do miss the engine on my FJR but the ST is fast enough to get me in trouble. You'll be happy either way. Just two different style of bikes. ::021::
