Don't get me wrong the tenere is an amazing bike. For being 600 lbs she is very agile offroad I have ridden it on some nasty rocky two track trails and it did very well. I did want the 1190 but I commute 10k miles a year and ride weekends I really don't think the ktm would hold up and be reliable for that many miles a year. I just kinda wish it had a little more power
You have to make compromises somewhere, no bike is all things to all men. Alternatively get more than one bike.

I found it a little flat so fitted Arrow headers and had a custom re-map, got some quite large gains over stock right through the range with a lot more top end, but with the very linear delivery it still feels a bit flat.

My 2008 GS which had a fair bit less power "felt" more lively due to a bit of a flat spot around 4,000rpm before it took off at 4500rpm, I think the Yamaha is a victim of its own nigh on perfect power delivery.

It is generally quicker than it feels, but never feels very quick.

Of course if your coming off sportsbikes it is a bit of a slug, and it is slower than the many of the 1200cc adventure twins out there - but surely you knew that before you bought it

Personally I find it runs out of puff at about the point at which I am thinking I really would not want to get caught ;) it keeps me hunting the sort of roads that are fun at sub 3 figure speeds and causes me to chill out and cruise on the straight bits as opposed to whizzing down them at 150mph, when they make all UK roads a free-for-all with regard to speed I might want something faster, but until then this will do just fine.

As a former Motorcop, I can say it is not what you ride, but how you ride it. I ran down numerous "faster" more powerful bikes on a Kawasaki Police 1000 that the rider just didn't know how to ride. I have no complaints about my Tenere. Remap the ECU and tell me it doesn't have enough power. It's not always the all mighty horsepower that drives the bike, but the nut behind the bars who is willing to ride the wheels off of it. Goes the same for dirt as it does for pavement.

So I now have 5,200 miles on my 14 tenere and so far I am extremely disappointed in the power of the bike. I was hoping the power would get better as I got more miles but it has Not. For a 1200cc bike the power is boring. The bad thing is I have put a lot of extras on the bike about 3k worth. Now I'm thinking about selling it. Is there anyway to add more hp to this bike without it costing a fortune

Oh boy....no, S10 is not a crotch rocket nor is it supposed to be. I just rode 6000 miles, two up and fully loaded and never found the bike wanting in power, even at 12-14k feet. It sounds to me like you simply bought the wrong bike although if you did some research before buying you would have known eXactly what kind of bike the S10 is meant to be.

This is very true.

I turned up to a group ride through a National park on a BeeWee 125cc scooter 8kw total power for a bit of a joke, and to piss the other riders off (scooters cop a bad rap in Oz) I'll ride anything with 2wheels and have fun doing it. before we set off i copped a bit of flack, I just shrugged it off. On the climb up hill i waved everyone pass as I am sure they all laughed at me but when we got to the mostly flat twists a passed everyone of them and they struggled to keep up as I just held the throttle pinned through every corner. when we got to the destination no-one said a word.

I even caught up to other riders, and it was funny to see their double take as they looked at me in the mirrors and then see their mistakes as they started to try and push beyond their ability for fear of being pass by a scooter.

heres a pic of the little beast.

I also laugh when people say they want stronger brakes.

Its not what you ride but how you ride it.

2014 S10 base model here. Well, if OP had done a bit more research, he would not have found disappointment with the bike. 2014 doesn't need the ECU flash. Fast, powerful, no hiccups, smooth, no stalling, no non-starts after washing, etc., etc. In short, it simply sacrifices power for reliability and longevity. What a novel idea. Crank out more HP per cu. in. and bring out the wallet....and the down time.....and increase the danger factor. This ride is a full second faster in the 1/4 mile (11.6 sec.) than my previous 6 cyl. Honda Valkyrie (12.6) and does me just fine. Use S if you need it. The years have shown me that reliability trumps speed, but that very lesson had to be learned the hard way. Go buy the KTM young man, you'll be back.

When I first rode mine (2013), I thought the same thing - that it seemed low on power. Until I watch the speedo go up and up and up without feeling like it is straining like my F800 did. After putting 3,000 miles on it now, I think I just need the ECU work done to smooth out S mode. I am pleased with the handling and getting up to 90 2-up when needed to pass without a problem. Even the ECU issue isn't that big of a deal to me. I'm just going to wait for winter so I don't have down time.
