I've had my bike since Dec 2011 and have lurked here from time to time. I talked to Jaxon at Rideonadv the other day about some lights and he said a group buy was coming up. I thought i better get busy and get registered. I love the bike as much as most of you do, it tours really well for me and gets me off pavement. I got to go out west in Aug. rode to Montana and came down the CDT to Hartsel Co and then back to TN. My longest and best moto trip to date 13 days, 5465 miles, 1367 of the CDT. My wife has become envious after looking at my pics. I have bought a top box for the bike and her some gear. It may be harder to take trips without her now. We use to backpack when we were young and really enjoyed the back country, now we'll see how moto touring goes. Here is a pic of us

TrueGrip, Welcome to the forum officially!!! Not that I am an official or anything!!! If you have done some good hikiing with the Mrs. then using the bike to much the same exploring would seem like lots of fun off the beaton path. Don't know if you have been on forums where camping and or 2-up touring has been read, but think of packing as same as if you had to stuff it all in a backpack and carry it all. Small stuff!!!

I am sure you already know this!!! ENjoy your ride and exploring!!!

TNWalker a TN meet sounds good maybe a ride to Chattanooga to Bea's or to Mason for some Gus's. I have to get away from home to eat unhealthy ;D

Jagermeister It wouldn't suprise me if you have been to the Tin roof in coble. You mention our dirt roads so affectionately.

If anyone would like to come to Tn to see the fall leaves I live on a farm on the Duck river. I have a covered pavillion to camp at. You'll go to sleep with owls and coyotes and wake up with deer and turkeys. As Jagermeister said we have lots of dirt roads and close to civil war history if you like that kind of stuff. The invitation is open. Come on in boys the waters fine

I will be in touch and will take you up on the offer. Here lately I I have soooooooo much going on that rides are way to few and far between. Dickson County duck river area has some good dirt roads for D/S'ing.

That sounds great - I'd love to do a mini camping trip.

Dave is hosting the Dirt Devil ride through Hickman tomorrow, but I can't make it. If you're out tomorrow, there'll be about 20 DS bikes roaming around. I may ride out there 1/2 day tomorrow or Sunday.

Patrick and Jager just shoot me a PM when you want to come. The only weekend we won't be around will be the last weekend in Oct. We are planning a trip to the ozarks. I would love to have u visit and show u around Hickman county. The Nashville BMW guys are having Ribfest the 3rd weekend of Oct. here in Hickman county I've never been but it looks good. Sat nite all the ribs and chicken u can eat. I think they have music at nite and good camping sites plus a hotel close by. I've heard it is a good time. I know Lee who puts it on. He'll have some good rides layed out. I may just Pay for Sat nite and eat and hang out since I live so close. There is a post on ADV for the details.

Where you ride in the dirt around Centerville?

Hickman county is probably in the top 5 counties in TN for land mass. Mostly woods and farm land. Not really much of an industrial base here mostly folks who work out of town,farm or are retired. That dose'nt give a good tax base for paving roads hence so many good places to ride. I think I'll try and have a ride in Nov maybe second weekend. They are several teneres close by that might come. I've got a good covered pavillion to camp at on the Duck river. Have a greet and meet here at the farm on friday evening, grill something build a fire and hangout. Saturday I lead a ride through the hills and hollars. If that sounds interesting to anyone let me know. November should be cool enough for a good fire and some good sleeping and with any luck not much dust.
