I currently ride a Yamaha FZ1 and take my XT350 out to play as much as I can. I find myself eyeing the trails on the side of the road when on the fizzer and the XT leaves me wanting in the power department on the highway. On first sight of the S10, I thought my two bikes had been parked too close in the garage and the offspring was in this month's issue if Motorcyclist Magazine. The weather here in LA (Lower Alabama) allows riding pretty much year round. The Tenere will be mine.... soon....very soon.

Welcome on, Popawilly from Lower Alabama. Congrats on moving in the right direction. You'll be very happy with a Tenere. Good luck and keep us posted. R ::004:: ::022::

Welcome from a former owner of a 2005 FZ1 and a 1986 XT350. For me the Tenere is an ideal compromise between the two different bikes. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the welcomes. Yall are making me want to head to the bike shop and get one on the way. There is one on the classifieds less than 100 miles from here. If only I could convince my wife how inportant it is to have a S10. I updated my profile pic. It is a '89 FZR400 that I raced with WERA and won the regional championship in 2005. I don't race anymore but I still do trackdays on a 1999 R6. Yea, I'm a Yamaha rider. I tried a Suzuki GSXR 750 but the FZ1 handled better so I went back to Yamaha.

Many come from sport bikes and seem to think they will get that same exhilaration from the tenere. Remember the tenere is VERY utilitarian. It will take you pretty much anywhere you want to go, in a very civilized Manor.

A sport bike it's not. Having said that I wouldn't trade it back for my old VFR. I do miss the V4 every once in a while, but not enough to go back.

The Tenere just does too much too well, too often. It's simply a great all-around bike - you'll enjoy it.

Same here, but I would not mind adding a VFR, or an RC51 into the Garage next to it!

I think these two would make fine stable-mates as well, Coastie. They could share experiences and talk about the advantages of having twin mills and side radiators. Lot's in common...

I had a RC51 for two years and ended up selling it and buying my VTR1000 Super Hawk back. The only bike that I loved so much that I bought it twice. However, since my S10 arrived on July 28, 2011, it has over 18,0000 miles on it and the VTR has only been out of the garage once. Still enjoy looking at it, though.

Ugh, bike porn. You guys are killing me. Love the super hawk also. Now I'm going to have to go surf cycle trader for awhile, then go take a cold shower.
