Im curious if anyone has feed back for running different coolants in the S10. Im very aware of other coolant options (i work at a dealership) Just curios to hear some outcomes from owners who have changed from the Yamaha coolant to other options. I know that our high humidity and hot temperatures he in Oklahoma play a big role, i just have been wanting to get that operating temperature down more when riding off-road.

I had run the pre-mix 50/50%, non-silicate Prestone in my SV and my CBR. I just finished the valve adjustment (and what a f'ing PIA ::010::) and need to do the coolant so...I'm heading Prestone for the S10 unless someone tells me why not. FYI, the non-pre-mixed Prestone has silicates which I understand are very bad for the plastic impellers on some bikes.

I used ICE (think that's the name). It's blue . I got it at the Honda dealership. I used it in my Honda and will change the coolant (next oil change) in the Tenere to the same.

I think anything that's safe for the S10 would help it here in the south.

Used to be a fan of Honda premixed until the cost went through the roof. Recently switched to Zerex Asian formula in the FJR and Tenere.

Engine Ice and I just filled my system with it at last valve check. I use it both the dirtbikes and it is a great product. The cruising temps have decreased and when hot, the fan seems to do the job much quicker than before. Flush a gallon of distilled water through the rad/hoses/catch tank and you're good to go.

I'm pretty sure I read an article a year or two ago about engine ice being snake oil (i.e. no better than regular coolant) but I can't seem to find it now.

I'd use it, but..........................they recommend changing it every year. I use Amsoil and it lasts for years!

I know of several FJR riders who use the Engine ICE. That is what I am putting in mine when I change it.

The funny thing is, the coolant will still reach 221, the fan will still come on. The only way I've seen so far to keep it cooler is when AC does his flash, he can tweak the fan's on-off.

I am just under 16,000 miles on a '12, just changed mine out to Engine Ice, have used it for years. Thing is that it was probably a waste of time, the original fluid was clean, light blue color. Looked pretty much new! Not like the brake and clutch fluid I have changed out.

Cant be arsed worrying about such things. :)

I did the same thing and echo both thoughts on my 15k 2012.

My coolant was fine after draining. Oh well. I flushed with water/vinegar, water, then filled with Engine Ice.

My brake and clutch fluid looked very used up.
