The additional carrier under the passenger seat mentioned in the owner's manual. It states to use the additional carrier consult a Yamaha dealer. Why do I have to contact a Yamaha dealer to use the additional carrier under the rear seat?

Thanks for that info. Looks pretty straight forward. Well it would seem Yamaha has not rectified the clearance issue between the passenger grab rails and lowering the rear carrier. So I will have to shim the grab rails out or dremel the rear carrier. Not a big deal.

There is a tutorial on youtube from a member on here that goes through taking off the seat and lowering the rear rack so that both are the same level, and plates are also available to allow for heavier luggage.

Good information Fred. I have run my 2012 and 2015 in the lower configuration with one difference than yours. I remove the grab rails since they get in the way of securing the dry bag. Much simpler to function without the grab rails.
