and a big but...only to switch it on. Still haven't found a way to change it to mode "2" or switch it off.

Yesterday I was riding deep sand with TCS off then went to pavement. Had 200 miles to slab and getting dark do didn't want the bright amber light shining all night. So while riding along at 50 mph or so, pulled in the clutch, turned off the key, turned key back on, let clutch out to start bike and viola TCS back to mode "1" only losing a few mph.

You do not have to turn off the engine to switch the TCS back on. I do it all the time. I always do it when stopped at a light.

But then that's not "on the fly" is it? Thread is about changing TCS mode while riding at speed.

You misunderstood me... sorry. I've never tried it on the fly. It might work. Give it a try. I prefer to not mess with settings or the GPS when I am moving. YMMV ::008::
