I cut a piece of the rubberized kitchen cabinet liner for under mine. I know of several who had the clear plastic coating put on their's...

I really like my Wolfman Expedition (large). Shaped perfectly to fit the tank, 100% waterproof, and made in the USA.

Or you can always go with a gas cap ring mounted bag like the one Givi Tanklock bags or the ones from Bags Connection. They mount to a ring installed on the gas tank around the gas cap and they never touch the painted portion of the tank at all. They also pop on and off in a jiffy. The only downside in my opinion is the look, They don't hug the contours of the tank but instead they stand on top of the tank, which some might not like it but it looks fine to me.
I have the Givi T480 and I love it. Many on this forum have the Bags connection "City" bag and speak very highly of it as well.

So so you have to buy the cap separate? I looked on motosuper store but they did not have one for the ST.

Yes, you do have to buy the cap (actually it's just a mounting ring that goes around the cap) separate. But it's only like 15 bucks.
I bought mine at motorcyclesuperstore. They don't list one specifically for the S10. I think they list the FZ8, but that is the correct one. Skew number is SKU: #336548

I love my bags connection city bag. Easy on off, super sturdy, just the right size. The optional map case is great too.

I've had the bike on its side and it had held up well.

Only downside is it does contact the tank at the rear when fully loaded. I use some clear bra material in that area to protect the tank.

I would never go back to straps and buckles after using the tanking system.

NICE, THANKS...........

I saw that one listed and just wanted to make sure I was getting the right doo-dad for my new toy. Thanks, I know what my next order will be.

In my case I switched from a Wolfman Rainier to a Famsa FA244/78 E-Max as it's a studier, more rigid, and equally versatile bag. As for tank protection, it's inherent with the bag as it requires the use of it's "base mat" which incidentally does a very fine job of tank protection in addition to simplifying swift bag removal for fueling.
Here's some info and pics:

Good luck with your decision. ::003::
