Trying to figure out which tank bags is best.
My Wee had a Wolfman Expedition 2 and was perfect.
It seems I cannot use the Wolfman (Yamaha forgot to provide anchor spots for the ST)
So, I would like to know...What Tank Bag is everybody using?

I have used magnetic and strap on bags for years and never had a scratched tank. My method is to go to the kitchen department at Wal Mart and get a roll of the black rubberized open pattern material that they sell to use to line the bottom of kitchen drawers. Auto supply stores sell this as tool box drawer padding but they charge more for the same stuff. I cut out a pattern the same shape as the of the bottom of the tank bag. Just lay it on the tank, then put the bag on top of it. Keeps it from moving and provides a soft layer between the bag and the tank. For about $5 you have a lifetime supply. Presently on the S10 using the Yamaha bag for trips when I want to pack lotsa stuff and a 16L magnetic RKA for when I want a smaller bag. Since I don't use a tank bag that often, I prefer not to have that horseshoe thing attached to my tank all the time, but that's just me. :)

I'm running the "City" bag and SW-Motech tank ring system on my Tenere. I used magnet mount bags on my old bikes but decided to bite the bullet and spend the coin this time. So far (about 500 miles) the bag has been great.

I bought the Yamaha Adventure Touring Package and figured they were padding the price with the tank bag. But after a couple of days of use it is one of the roomiest, best designed tank bags I have ever used. Usually you get into a Steering Lock with tank bags, but not with this. It's probably the best designed single piece in the package.
I would go down to a dealer and check it out if possible.

Is the tank ring method the only way the city bag mounts?

I have the tenere tank bag, easy on and off, strong magnets no scratches and heaps of room. It stays on all the time and makes a great day pack to carry at the races.
I agree its the best bit of factory kit.

Yes, the tank ring is the only way to mount this bag (no magnets or straps).

I have one of these - used on the V-Stom and seems to fit the S10 as well or better. Usual reservations about the strappy mounting system, but other than that it's good.

I also have the Yamaha Tank Bag that came with the Adventure kit. I have never had a bag so big before, so I'm kinda getting used to it. It seems to have a forward tilt to it and it might be too tall for me, but it has tons of storage and little man purse that buckles on to front that you can take with you. 8)

Just one strap goes under the steering head... attaches to the front clips on each side of the bag.

I have the baglux tank cover and an old baglux tankbag I have been using for a good few years now - it adds a certain patina :)

Nice bag, did you use the optional fitting kit? (They are a couple standoffs)
