Hello everyone, recently bought a 2013 super tenere and was looking from some help. I had a kawasaki klr650 and I used the kawasaki oem luggage rack bag on it. This worked perfect for what I needed and was looking for the same thing for the tenere. The rear luggage rack on the klr was much bigger then the one on my tenere but I was looking for a soft tail bag that works good with the oem rear rack on the tenere. I know I can purchase one of the bigger racks from altrider or wolfman etc, but really don't want to spend the extra money. Thought someone might have experience with tail bags and the oem luggage rack. Thanks.

I'm hunting for a soft tail bag for tools, etc... and the wolfman peak tail bag looks to fit the bill. pretty universal latching mechanism that looks like.

just an idea ::008::

If you are not going to use your passenger seat, you can remove it and lower the rack to accommodate your KLR tail pack. That is what I use on my Super Ten and it stays on there all the time. Very handy for me.

Todwick,

Same KLR with same KLR tail bag.
Same scenario.

I opted for making my Tenere tail rack as versatile as the KLR's is.
Altrider tail rack is an awesome piece of hardware.

Transforms the Tenere as a cargo carrying masterpiece.
Your KLR bag will be happy perched back there.
But so will the AMAZING Motofiz tail bag from Aerostich. (Comes in 3 sizes and is FAR better a softbag than my KLR bag was)

Hope this helps.

I'm with Snake. Motofizz is a keeper. The small bag has lots of space for my local needs.

Thanks guys for the responses. RonH, thanks very much for the info on the wolfman pack and pictures, this helps my decision a lot.

Yeah thanks for that post, Ron.

If OP doesn't mind me hijacking, would your opinion still stand if I intended to use the tail bag on top of the pillion seat vice the rear rack? Which one has the better mount setup to go underneath the seat like this?

Ideally, I want a bag I can quickly disconnect/reconnect depending on if I'm riding two up. Two-up, contents would go in the rear Givi. Solo, the Givi goes and necessary contents would go in the tail bag.

Here's a pic of the Altrider tail rack.

The crossed X straps are the mounting straps for the motofiz bag. The bag clips to the bike in 30 seconds. Stout too. The wife has ridden 1000's of miles with it being her backrest.

I like that Wolfman bag too though.

I dig your pannier setup snake. Those are happy trails panniers, with what racks again? Also, what size is your motofizz?

Happy trails rack too.

And the Motofiz is the LARGE size. I'm a native Texan. I couldn't have chosen any other size. :)

Not a fan of the OEM rack...I'm in the AltRider camp using either the small or medium MotoFizz camp bags.

Great addition to the bike and I dunno, the 'Fizz just looks right!

Another nod for the Motofiz tailbag. I have the small, and I leave it on the passenger seat full time, since the wife rarely rides with me. It supplements my hard bags nicely, and makes a great compact bag for those one day rides.

Now I'm being swayed toward the 'fizz ???

Are the buckle straps that hold it on top of the seat something I could leave on the bike "permanently" and easily attach or detach the bag yet? My wife likes to ride just enough that this is something I'm looking for

I'm not worried about loose ends flapping around on the straps, a handful of black zipties to hold them folded up will work just fine.

Karson, look at the tail rack on my pic. You see the 4 straps that are buckled together with a 4-way buckle? That 4-way comes with the Motofiz to allow you to leave the permanent mounting straps on the bike. (And not flap around.

To mount the bag you release the 4-way and put it in a pocket on the Motofiz. Then the 4 buckles from the mounting straps just buckle to 4 attachment buckles on the Motofiz bag.

The problem with the Motofiz bag is I want all 3 sizes. Lol
I bought the Large, obviously. And in the pic above, I still don't have it expanded width wise. It unzips to be bigger.

Built rugged as hell. NOT waterproof! Comes with a rain cover, but I dont\wont use it. Instead, I pack on clothing in an overboard bag and slide it into the motofiz.
Any electronics I keep in a large freezer bag.

Patrick,

Yes, thats a motofiz in the middle with a tent stuffed under the top flap.
The 2 green rolled bags (1 on each pannier) are the wife's armrests. (Well, actually sleeping bags)
I lowered her pegs a couple of inches. Now she can sit up in that "comforter" that is created with all the cargo and relax and sing in my ear.
She loves this bike. First one EVER in 31 years that she will ride all day-week-month on.

Now you see why I needed to upgrade the suspension.
Fully loaded we are a bit beyond the 450lb limit.
(Not ole Git Ray overloaded, however)

Fantastic pack-mule that will take us anywhere. In comfort. WITH the coffee pot!

Does anyone here happen to know if the SMALL Motofizz bag will fit between the factory grab handles IF the rear passenger seat is removed?
