Just sent my Paypal for a harmonizer. So many good reviews I had to get it.
I'm happy with mine - just wish the results would have been better......

I really do not think I have a serious vibe problem. I only wish i had balanced the TB's at the factory setting first. I just need to go back and try the harmonizer at different settings of the RH (standard) TB and check the results.

I have not done the TB sync on my Tenere yet, but when I do I will be using the same homemade manometer I made for the V Strom. It's cheap and has always served me well. It's pretty fancy, I painted the yard stick bright yellow and used ATF fluid. The red fluid against the yellow background makes for a nice contrast! ::018::
+1 - but I think used power steering fluid. Same stuff as atf for the most part. Works fine.

I received my Harmonizer Friday and did a TBS at the factory setting today. At 1,300 miles, my bike had no major vibrations before and the off-idle stumble was very mild, barely noticeable.

The Harmonizer showed the TB's were off by 10-12 Mbars and, interestingly enough, to sync them I had to turn the left screw in (not out) by close to 1/4 of a turn. I then took the bike for a quick test ride with the Harmonizer still connected to the vacuum lines. The sync held fine during and after the ride. After I disconnected the Harmonizer I went for another slightly longer test ride. The mild stumble seems to be gone and the engine is running very smoothly, specially in low RPMS. I was able to have the clutch fully released and the throttle closed doing 8 MPH in first gear with no problems. I could not do that before the sync.

Tomorrow I plan to ride to work so I'll have a chance to feel the bike at highway speeds. I may still play with different settings depending on how the engine feels this week but the baseline seems pretty good. Needless to say that I am very happy with the Harmonizer and think it was a great investment that will pay for itself in the first couple of weeks.

Your bike sounds about how mine was before I adjusted the TB"s. I think my best bet is to try to reset the right TB to the original factory setting and then balance the left to it. Did you use any extensions to the lines, or just hook the harmonizer directly to the TB's with the supplied hoses? On the left side, did you use a "T" to hook up the harmonizer?

After you did the sync, did you notice any reduction in engine rpm at idle?

Rod,

I hooked the Harmonizer directly to the right port and used a 4" long 5/32" vacuum hose with a T connector on the left. I did not install pigtails for future syncs.

This morning I rode to work and got a better feel for how the bike is running. The engine is definitely happier all around, with marked improvements off idle and at low RPM. The slight stumble I felt before is gone though to be honest it was never that pronounced to start with. At highway speeds the bike is a little smoother but the improvement is not as significant as what I feel at low RPM.

Based on how the engine is running now, I don't plan to mess with the airscrews for a while. I will try a higher CO setting just for the heck of it but if it doesn't improve anything I am very happy with where things stand.

You mentioned you sometimes come to Albuquerque. Anytime you are in the area you are welcome to stop by and take my bike for a spin.

Good luck!

Yes. I noticed a 100-150 RPM reduction at idle, which I wasn't expecting. The engine idles more smoothly now with close to no changes in RPM.

Good feedback! We are very similar as far as elevation and that is why I was so curious on your method and results.

Yes, we get down every now and then as we have friends that live there. Thanks for the offer!

I just did mine today and saw the same thing. When I hooked it up and ran the engine I was off by 10 millibars. I left alone the right painted screw and adjusted the left screw only; about 1/4 to 1/3 turn CW. Rode it for 4 hours today from 6400' (home) up to 11,000'. It didn't seem any smoother at idle (just a bit lower) but I think it was somewhat smoother at around 4000 RPM. I also noticed I wasn't getting any backfire when decelerating down hills like I was before, not sure if that's related to syncing or not.

The Harmonizer is great and really easy to use. I didn't leave any extra hoses connected but I did find that it is much easier, and only an extra 5 minutes, to take the panels off and lift the gas tank.
