I am hoping that one of you techie people can help me. I'm installing a satnav and have managed to get the cable through to the the right hand side cover. I have the upper and lower covers removed and am just looking at a mass of cables and relays and fuses etc. I just need to pick up a switched live and an earth. Where is best to get it from? In the service manual it says there are some spare fuses so could I pick up one of those? If so how? The 3A one will do fine. Or can I pick up where the standard accessory socket gets it's power from? where is that?

As you can see I'm not very ellectrically minded so the wiring diagram confuses me and it doesn't help with actual physical location so I'm hoping one of you guys has already been through this and can point me in the right direction :)

Steve, there's switched power for heated grips which shows itself as a 4 pin waterproof plug pushed to the back end of the battery. Do a search for 'heated grips'' as there's a good thread with photos.

I prefer to have my GPS powered direct from the battery, with a dashboard on/off switch, as I don't like the GPS powering off when I just stop for fuel or a roadside burger.

Power to the 12V outlet is switched, ya could tap into that or get a cable for your GTS to fit the 12v outlet. My GPS is pluggd into the 12V outlet, works fine for me.

Along those lines, Eastern Beaver has kits for various stuff, including aux fuse blocks powered with switched and unswitched fuses off one of the oem plugs. I used a PC-8 aux. fuse block kit from them. LINK

The 4 pin Heated Grip plug is tucked down under by the tool pouch area somewhere with a black plug cap on it. The four wires are as follows: Blue/Black - 12v off key switch, Black/Green - 12v off headlight relay, Black - Ground, Light Green/White - ECU signal.

The 3 pin Aux Light plug is in the same area. Those three wires are as follows: Red/White - unswitched 12v (20 amp fuse), Brown - switched 12v from ECU, Black - Ground.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'll tap into the heated grip plug and I have now located the plug. Excellent advice and quick too. I know I joined this forum for a reason! ;)

I'm wondering if the OEM aux. lights plug has power going to it or do you need the lights harness to complete the circuit.

I was looking to install an LED light bar under the headlights and I'm already using the heated grips connector and would like to tap into the OEM lights plug if it's active and switched.. Is it?

@mingo - You don't need anything. From above:
The 3 pin Aux Light plug is in the same area. Those three wires are as follows: Red/White - unswitched 12v (20 amp fuse), Brown - switched 12v from ECU, Black - Ground.
Use the Red/White for power and the Black for ground. The switched 12v from the ECU is for the relay trigger. If you wire this thru a relay, as you should, the lights will only work when the bike is on, despite having unswitched power from the Red/White wire. Only when the bikes is on will the 12v from the ECU trigger the relay and allow the lights to be on. Add your switch on the Brown wire.
