I had a day off yesterday so I checked out a road I was on years ago but didn't have time to go to the end. I was in my truck at the time and I thought this would be a good road to learn more about the bikes handling. Verdict....Fun!!! I had a great time on a nice sunny day playing on a rough road with some nice scenery.

The road is on the southern edge of the Canadian shield so lots of rocky scenery and small ponds and lakes. At the end of the road is a hydro generating station and a lift lock for boats you can check out. There are some atv trails that branch off but without good dirt tires and it's still very muddy, it was over my head. There were a few small water crossings but not too deep. I was riding alone so I had to use the timer on the camera. I was hard to judge how much time to leave before starting to shoot and for how long. I did manage to get a few shots though.

Check it out if you need a destination.

Great pics! Thanks for posting them. The only Swift Rapids Road I could find on Google Maps is north of Orillia. Is this the right road, or is there another one with the same name further south?
Thanks,
Bruce

Yes you have the right road. It's a little north west of Orillia. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to get there from Cambridge and that was hitting the rush hour traffic in the morning. It would have been better to go there on a weekend.

Here's a few more pictures from the other day.

Was a few years ago that I was up the Swift Rapids Road and I agree it was a fun little ride. At that time I had my wee.
Is the end of the road still gated? When I road it there was no through way. Had to turn and go back.
I played hooky on Tues and took a run up to palmer Rapids. Great roads in that area.

Yes the road is gated on the north end. But your are allowed to walk up to the lock/hydro station and have a look around.

I notice your from Woodville. I've passed through there many times heading to Balsam Lake where some family have a cottage. Looks like lots of places I would like to explore around that area.
