Suspension setting for solo and heavy luggage on Gen 2 ES model

I'm about to go on the first tour with my 2014 ES in a couple of days. I will be riding solo but with fully packed panniers + top box. Total weight of the luggage will probably be about 50 kilos (110 pounds) and I weigh about 85 kilos (185 pounds) myself. My question is whether I should put the preload setting to "solo rider + luggage" or to "rider with passenger - no luggage"? I.e. what sort of luggage weight does the solo rider + luggage take into account in reality? It's a big difference between some half-full soft luggage and a fully loaded set of panniers + top box. I'm thinking about putting it to rider with passenger - no luggage to begin with and maybe change it after a couple of days when there is less weight in the panniers. (From consuming food and beer.) :)

Experiences would be appreciated!

I would experiment between with rider and with rider + luggage. You may need to adjust for on vs off road as well.

Really? So rider with luggage is not even an option then? Thanks for your input. Will consider it.

Unfortunately Yamaha appears not to have given ranges for the settings. It's be interesting to scale and shock dyno the presets but it'd be a fair amount of work. Probably easier to simply test them out and see what works best for you.

At 295 lbs all in, 2-up with luggage won't even cut it. I think Yamaha thinks 2-up with luggage is 2 tiny Japanese folks and a hand bag. You can measure your sag and see.

I had to add a 30% stiffer rear spring to handle my weight (230lbs) and any luggage at all.

When I ride solo without luggage I'm on the solo no luggage setting, just like recommended. I don't feel like the bike is too soft in the rear. Rather balanced actually. But taking your feedback into account I think I will start with the rider plus passenger, no luggage, setting to begin with and change it later if needed.
